Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley hired Law to replace Nikki McCray-Penson, who recently took over as head coach at Old Dominion.
Law has been on Tennessee coach Holly Warlick's staff since 2012, and she helped the Lady Vols recruit what is ranked as the top incoming freshman class in the nation this fall. Staley needed another standout recruiter after McCray-Penson's departure.
A native of South Carolina, Law played collegiately at Iowa for C. Vivian Stringer and later was an assistant to Stringer at Rutgers. Law also has been a head coach at Illinois, and she played for the Harlem Globetrotters from 1991 to 1994.
Law's hiring was first reported by the Knoxville News Sentinel.
South Carolina also recently took a transfer from Tennessee in guard Te'a Cooper, who will sit out the upcoming season and then have two years of college eligibility remaining.
