So who is running the show for the Ottawa Senators? Kyle Turris said on Wednesday, via the Canadian Press, that it was owner Eugene Melnyk that decided the team wouldn't offer the center a long-term contract extension, which led to his trade to the Nashville Predators in deal that brought Matt Duchene to Ottawa. "It's tough because I think management did want to sign me, but I think that the owner didn't. And that was his decision," said Turris, via the Canadian Press. Senators general manager Pierre Dorion was asked about that accusation during press availability later in the day. "Everything in the hockey department goes through me. Not Mr. Melnyk," said Dorion. Boy, were it not for the team plummeting into tanking position, the questionable future of coach Guy Boucher (whom Dorion gave a vote of confidence) and the raging debate over trading Erik Karlsson, this would have been quite the story.
