The Redskins are signing kicker Nick Rose to replace Dustin Hopkins, who will be placed on short-term IR with a hip injury per source. Rose kicked at Texas but has not yet kicked in the NFL.

Redskins lose rookie DE Allen to Lisfranc injury

Redskins defensive lineman Jonathan Allen suffered a Lisfranc injury during Washington's 26-24 victory over the 49ers on Sunday, coach Jay Gruden said.

Redskins PK Dustin Hopkins has a right hip rotator muscle strain. The Redskins will work out kickers Tuesday, just in case Hopkins can't kick vs. Philadelphia on Oct. 23.

Coach Jay Gruden said they will consider taking DeAngelo Hall off the PUP list Wednesday or next week. Gruden said he's "pretty darn close" to 100 percent but they want to make sure.

Thompson ignites Washington's offense

Chris Thompson continues to show off his versatility and pass-catching ability. With 116 yards against the 49ers on Sunday, Thompson now has 329 receiving yards after the catch this season, 77 more than any other player.

Safety D.J. Swearinger said he can't commit unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. But he also said he didn't like seeing Pierre Garcon "celebrate" trucking Montae Nicholson -- as Nicholson lay hurt on the ground. "I have to keep my cool, but I'll stand up for my guy anytime," Swearinger said.

Left tackle Trent Williams said he was "real close" to not playing with his injured knee. But a conversation he had with coach Jay Gruden before the weekend resonated. "He asked me if there was anything I could do to push through and that he would need me," Williams said. "I said, say no more I'll be out there."

Corner Bashaud Breeland said he felt better about his knee after getting examined. He'll undergo an MRI Monday to determine the extent of his sprained MCL. Breeland missed a couple weeks in camp with a sprained MCL two years ago. "I'm not too scared about it," Breeland said. "But when it happened I was. It scared me, but the news that I got [about the injury] got me back right."
