Marcus Mariota told KHON in Hawaii his brother, Oregon tight end Matt Mariota, has been a key piece of his rehabilitation. "He's been special for me, just because whether it was me throwing passes on a scooter or just hanging out he was always kind of there for me during this process. That relationship that I have with my brother is something that is pretty special. I'm excited for him as he continues his journey. They start spring ball soon. He's put a lot of good work, a lot of hard work into it and I hope it all works out for him."

While Johnathan Cyprien's been a box safety and can work as a nickel linebacker, Mike Mularkey said Cyprien can play in coverage as needed. But the Titans coach stopped short of saying Kevin Byard is now a center-fielding free safety. The Titans will continue to mix and match safeties for situations and matchups as warranted, Mularkey said.

In his second year, can Sebastian Tretola unseat one of the Titans starting guards, Quinton Spain or Josh Kline? "I hope so, that's why he's here," Mike Mularkey said in Phoenix. "He should be (ready), he's capable of challenging. It's really up to him." Mularkey also spoke as if newcomer Tim Lelito can challenge for an interior line spot. (That needs to be unlikely.) Lelito may also have a great camp battle with third-tackle Dennis Kelly for work as a tight end in a jumbo package.

The Titans are continuing the revamp of their headquarters: "We are re-doing the weight room and the training room," Mike Mularkey said i n Phoenix. "We're just updating it, putting some new equipment in, going to Phase 2 after doing the locker room and a lot of the hallways. We're going onto the next section which is the weight room and the training room. ...We're going to open it up a little bit, have a little more sunlight coming in. so you'll be able to see the field with more windows."

Mike Mularkey on timetable for his rehab from foot surgery: "To be out of this before any of the players are back on the 17th so it's not a conversation piece." Photo from John Keim.

Mike Mularkey on Marcus Mariota's recovery now that he is out of the boot: "You would not know he had an injury, there is no limp or gait in his walk. I think he's right on schedule, if not ahead." No big pronouncement on changing timetable. Intention has been to hold him out of off-season. "If he's ready, we'll see what he can do. We'll allow him to do what he's capable of doing."

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam to ESPN.com's to Pat MacManamon on whether he has any issue with the Titans' ownership structure: "That's a commissioner issue and not something I care to comment on." Roger Goodall has said the NFL has an issue with the Titans' ownership structure, which has Amy Adams Strunk as controlling owner. John Mara of the Giants (in Jan. of 2016) and Jerry Jones of the Cowboys (in Jan. of 2017) have each said they have no problem with the Titans' ownership structure. Jones said "I'm not in that segment that has any critique of her role. I'm not. I don't have any suggestions altering the structure." Though he's now been asked, we don't know if Haslam is in that segment.

Taking a tablet to a ref for a quicker replay review sounds great. But have you ever tried watching one in the glare of the sun? It's not a great scenario for seeing things clearly.
