2-4, 4th in NFC South

Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter said that he and T.J. Ward actually met in his office last week. "I told T.J. exactly what I thought he needed to do." Koetter told players that if they are frustrated, they need to go to the person they are frustrated with and talk about it. Koetter also talked about how Ward wasn't there for OTAs or training camp and has been injured. Ward told me he has been healthy the last two weeks, however. He said that his hip is fine.

The Bucs are currently giving up a 73 percent completion percentage to opposing quarterbacks on third down. That was a stat that was used ad nauseam by the folks calling for Lovie Smith's job in 2015. The thing is, it's actually worse now. It was just shy of 68 percent in Smith's two seasons.

Following a day in which the Saints were the only NFC South team to win, New Orleans is now a substantial favorite to win the division.

Jameis' strong second half not enough

Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston did all he could to lead a comeback in Buffalo on Sunday, but Tampa Bay's defense faltered in the end to waste his performance.

The Bucs may be 2-4, but the play of rookie O.J. Howard today really added a new dimension in Dirk Koetter's play-calling and the chemistry with Jameis Winston is starting to show. Howard became just the seventh rookie tight end in the last 10 years to record a multi-touchdown game.

The Bucs dropped their third-straight game and won't win many others against good teams if they can't get off the field on third down and have such slow starts on offense.

Bucs S Ward 'at wit's end' over part-time role

Buccaneers safety T.J. Ward is frustrated by his lack of playing time, a sentiment that seemed to boil over after Sunday's loss to the Bills, with Ward telling reporters, "I did not come here to rotate. I did not come here to be a part-time player."

Bucs safety T.J. Ward is very frustrated by a lack of playing time right now. "I came here to be an impact player," Ward said. "I'm at my wits' end. I did not come here to rotate. I did not come here to be a part-time player."

Adam Humphries coughing up the ball and then that coverage bust plus a 15-yard penalty on that final drive doomed the Bucs today. At 2-4, their season is starting to slip away. They can't count on a late season run like last year with such a back-loaded divisional schedule.

Really impressed with Tyrod Taylor today. With limited weapons at WR, Taylor completed 20-of-33 passes for 268 yards and a score. Taylor also rushed for 53 yards on six carries.

Another TD catch for OJ Howard. That was a TE "throwback" scheme. Howard is now up to 94 yards on 5 receptions.

Winston finds Howard for TD, Bucs cut deficit (0:25)

The Bucs finally got a touchdown for the game -- a quick strike to a wide-open O.J. Howard on first down. The Bucs were actually in an "I" formation on the play, so the Bills assumed that they were going to run. This time, the Bucs were able to capitalize on the mistakes of the Bills -- an unnecessary roughness call on Leonard Johnson gifted them 15 yards
