49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said he has been told there's a "real good chance" for QB Jimmy Garoppolo to do some stuff in OTAs during the offseason program in May-June. Shanahan noted it's a bit different for a QB who won't have to do as much running and could throw. Meanwhile, Shanahan intends to continue with Nick Mullens as his quarterback over final two weeks. "Nick's earned it and I'm not taking him out," Shanahan said.

The 49ers can begin negotiating a contract extension with DT DeForest Buckner this offseason (though they still have next year, a 5th-year option and tags in front of them when it comes to player control). Coach Kyle Shanahan said he hasn't begun thinking about that but that "DeFo is someone we want to be a Niner for a long time." Buckner reached double digit sacks for the season for the first time in his career on Sunday as he now has 11. That's second-most among interior defensive linemen.

49ers CB Ahkello Witherspoon will spend the final two weeks of the season on injured reserve with a sprained PCL in his right knee. Coach Kyle Shanahan said rookie Tarvarius Moore will start in Witherspoon's place. Moore filled in for Witherspoon against the Seahawks on Sunday. Shanahan said he's excited to see what Moore, a third-round pick this year, can do.

'It means a ton' as Niners end skid vs. Seahawks

Kicker Robbie Gould's 36-yard field goal with 3:06 left in overtime brought an end to Seattle's 10-game winning streak against the 49ers, a span that included San Francisco's loss in the 2013 NFC Championship Game and dated to Dec. 8, 2013.

In a week in which the Chargers ended their drought against the Chiefs and the Browns ended their winless streak against the Broncos, it was only fitting that the 49ers followed suit. And sure enough, for as much as it hurt their positioning in the race for the No. 1 pick, the Niners pulled it off as Robbie Gould hit an 36-yard field goal in overtime for the 26-23 victory. The win was San Francisco's first against Seattle in 11 tries and moves the Niners to 4-10 on the season. This might haunt them come the draft in April but there's no doubt they'll take it right now.

For the second week in a row, the 49ers have put together a strong first-half performance to take a 17-13 lead at halftime against Seattle. Unlike last week, the Niners don't have a 20-point cushion to work with this time so they will need to keep it up in the second half to pull off the win and end Seattle's 9-game run of dominance in this matchup.

Today was a helpful day for the Niners as it pertains to their scenarios for the No. 1 pick. The Falcons and Redskins won while the Giants and Bucs lost. Those are the only two uncommon opponents between the Niners and Cardinals, which bolsters the Niners' chances for the No. 1 overall pick. Obviously, a Falcons loss to Arizona would've been even more helpful but that outcome still helps Niners positioning in potential tiebreaker with Arizona. And, of course, if the Niners defeat Seattle today, none of that will matter much.

49ers TE George Kittle aims to follow up on his 210-yard performance against the Broncos last week with another big day today against the Seahawks. Kittle had six catches for 70 yards in the previous meeting a couple weeks ago.

Biggest need at this point for Caesars Palace sportsbooks is the San Francisco 49ers, who are home underdogs to the Seattle Seahawks. "Most evenly bet Sunday I've seen in a while. 49ers are our only big need," Caesars risk manager Jeff Davis tells ESPN.
