The Seahawks built some momentum with their last touchdown drive, but that's all gone now that Russell Wilson fumbled on a sack and Atlanta returned it for a touchdown. Second turnover of the game for Wilson following an interception on his first attempt, though he didn't have much of a chance on that sack.

Jimmy Graham continues to be a force in the red zone. That was his seventh touchdown over the last six games. He had eight touchdowns in his first 31 games with the Seahawks. Graham now has 52 red-zone touchdowns in his career, tied with Rob Gronkowski for most in the NFL in the same span.

The Seahawks needed their offense to respond after the Falcons scored touchdowns on their first two possessions. It did. Lots to like on Seattle's nine-play, 65-yard drive, which Jimmy Graham capped with a 4-yard touchdown. Mike Davis ran hard and had a nice cutback on his final carry. Tyler Lockett is getting involved early.

Jimmy Graham TD catch in the red zone. Create a matchup vs. a LB with Graham split-out wide. And throw the back-shoulder fade. Good ball from QB Russell Wilson. That allowed Graham to box-out the defender at the point of attack.

A dreadful start for the Seahawks as Atlanta scores touchdowns on its first two possessions, the second coming after a Russell Wilson interception set the Falcons up with another short field. To make matters worse: cornerback Shaquill Griffin is doubtful to return. He's being evaluated for a concussion.

Brady Henderson ESPN

Jen Mueller reports on the Seahawks' radio broadcast that Shaquill Griffin's return to the game is doubtful because of a head injury. Byron Maxwell is still in for him at right cornerback.

Russell Wilson's first pass attempt is picked off as he throws behind Tyler Lockett. He saved a touchdown with his tackle, but that's not the start Seattle's offense needs.

Brady Henderson ESPN

Not a good start for the Seahawks in several ways: long return of the opening kickoff set up Atlanta with a short field. Cornerback Shaquill Griffin was hurt on the second play, replaced by Byron Maxwell. Pass interference on Jeremy Lane set up a Falcons touchdown. Cornerback is not a position Seattle can afford any more injuries with Richard Sherman out.

Every member of the Seahawks stood for the national anthem for the second week in a row. Several defensive linemen who had sat in prior weeks again stood in a line with their arms locked along with offensive linemen Justin Britt, Duane Brown and Oday Aboushi.

Left tackle Duane Brown worked with the Seahawks' No. 1 offense during the team warmup period just now. Eddie Lacy was first up among the tailbacks.

Some notes from Seahawks general manager John Schneider's pregame radio interview on 710 ESPN Seattle: Schneider said of running back Mike Davis that the Seahawks "had him pretty far up" on their draft board in 2015, when he was chosen in the fourth round by San Francisco. Schneider said rookie Nazair Jones will start at nose tackle with Jarran Reed out. He called it "a big bummer" to lose Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor, though he didn't discuss Chancellor's status beyond tonight's game.

Richard Sherman wheeled out of the tunnel to a big applause during pregame warmups. He'll have to use the knee scooter for about a month after surgery last week to repair his ruptured right Achilles.

Pete Carroll just jumped into a conversation between Matt Hasselbeck and Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. Hasselbeck's final season in Seattle — 2010 — was Carroll's first. Hasselbeck, the Seahawks' career passing leader, is back at CenturyLink Field as part of ESPN's Monday Night Football crew. He told 710 ESPN Seattle today that it's emotional being back.

Jarran Reed's absence in this game shouldn't be overlooked. The second-year defensive tackle has been having a strong season, mainly as an early-down run stuffer but he has also provided some pass-rush. The Seahawks' run defense turned in a masterful performance last week vs. Arizona even though Reed only played two snaps before hurting his hamstring. However, Seattle loaded the box with eight or more defenders often in that game, which isn't as viable of a strategy with a depleted secondary facing Matt Ryan and Julio Jones.

Brady Henderson ESPN

It's not clear who will start at running back, but the Seahawks declaring Thomas Rawls inactive (as a healthy scratch) is a good sign that Mike Davis will get some meaningful work tonight. Davis was promoted from the practice squad last week. Eddie Lacy is back after missing last week's game. He was getting a shot to take over as Seattle's lead back when he went down in Week 9. J.D. McKissic is Seattle's third-down back.

Brady Henderson ESPN

The Seahawks' inactives vs. Atlanta: SS Kam Chancellor, RB Thomas Rawls, LB Michael Wilhoite, LG Luke Joeckel, DT Jarran Reed, DT Garrison Smith, DE Quinton Jefferson.

Brady Henderson ESPN

Earl Thomas is expected to play tonight after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. With Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor out, Thomas may be busier than usual in patrolling the back end of Seattle's defense vs. Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Co.

Brady Henderson ESPN

Left tackle Duane Brown is testing out his sprained ankle with offensive line coach Tom Cable. Pete Carroll said Brown would be a game-time decision. If he can't play, Matt Tobin would be tasked with blocking Atlanta's Adrian Clayborn, who had six sacks against backup Cowboys left tackles last week.

The scene at CenturyLink Field about two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff of Seahawks vs. Falcons on Monday Night Football. The rain that has hit Seattle all day has started to let up. The Weather.com forecast calls for a 15-20 percent chance of rain at kickoff.

FPI: Seahawks hold major edge over Falcons

In a battle of birds, FPI gives the Seahawks better than a 2-1 advantage on Monday night (8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN App). Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson are 10-1 at home in prime time since 2012, best among all head coach-QB duos in that span.
