Mike Tomlin expressed optimism over Le'Veon Bell's franchise tag status entering Monday's deadline. Speaking to WAVY Channel 10 while in Virginia for Hampton Roads Youth Foundation football camp, Tomlin said everyone wants a deal done, "now it's just about negotiators getting into a room and doing what it is they need to do. I'm excited and hopeful. Hopefully we'll have some exciting news before Monday."

Tomlin's spirits high as Bell deadline closes in

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin still believes a long-term deal with running back Le'Veon Bell could be reached before Monday's 4 p.m. ET deadline. But sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter it will be challenging, as the sides are not close to a deal at this time.
