Sources: Lynch appeal heard; Peters testifies

Marshawn Lynch's appeal hearing was heard via conference call Monday and Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters testified on Lynch's behalf, telling appeals officer James Thrash that the Raiders running back was trying to calm him down.

The Raiders' white-knuckle 31-30 victory over the Chiefs Thursday night, and the way in which they did it via a dormant offense becoming explosive again and a defense given a jolt by NaVorro Bowman, gives them hope for the future. But if Oakland does not capitalize and run off a string of victories to truly get back in the AFC West race, beating the Chiefs in such feel-good fashion will mean nothing. And here come the Bills and Dolphins, with a week in Florida in between.

If he can make it work with his schedule, Marcus Peters wants to speak on Marshawn Lynch's behalf at his hearing to appeal his suspension, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The craziest win-probability swings of Week 7

A last-gasp winner in Oakland. Two crucial mistakes in Buffalo and New Jersey. A rookie's history-making day in Chicago. These are the plays that swung Week 7 in the NFL.

Marshawn Lynch suspended one game without pay for unsportsmanlike conduct after making contact with an official in last night's 31-30 defeat of the Chiefs. Lynch is eligible to return for the Raiders' game at Miami on Nov. 5.

Cooper's huge game not just a fantasy

No one wants to hear about your fantasy team, but if you have Amari Cooper feel free to brag at the water cooler today. Cooper broke out of his slow start in a big way on Thursday against the Chiefs with 11 catches, 210 yards and two TDs.

Ranking playoff chances for the NFL's struggling contenders

Five of last year's playoff teams are 3-3 or worse. And after much hype, Arizona and Tampa Bay are off to less-than-stellar starts as well. Which clubs have the best shot of making the playoffs?

Paul Gutierrez ESPN Staff Writer

"I felt like they were playing ping-pong with my heart." - Giorgio Tavecchio, on watching the wild last few seconds of the Raiders' comeback win, when two Raiders TDs were taken off the board, by replay (Jared Cook) and penalty (Michael Crabtree pushing off).

Yeah, you could say Derek Carr, a lifelong Dodgers fan, celebrated the Dodgers winning the National League pennant with the comeback win against the Chiefs. Someone, Carr would not say who, told him during the Raiders game that the Dodgers had closed out the Cubs. Carr is also friendly with Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, with whom he was at Fresno State at the same time.

Paul Gutierrez ESPN Staff Writer

That was Derek Carr's 13th career game-winning drive in the 4th quarter/OT since entering the NFL in 2014. He had seven such drives last season.

Amari Cooper, who had 11 catches for 210 yards, is the first Raiders player with at least 200 yards receiving since Art Powell in 1965 against the Boston Patriots. It was also Cooper's third career game with at least 10 receptions, his second against the Chiefs.
