Saints minus CBs Lattimore, Crawley vs. Rams

New Orleans' surprising defense will face a steep challenge Sunday, as the Saints will be without starters Marshon Lattimore and Ken Crawley against the surprising offense of the Los Angeles Rams.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Rams DT Aaron Donald missed Thursday's practice with an illness and was limited on Friday, but Sean McVay said he will be good to go on Sunday.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

The Saints will officially be without their two starting corners. Marshon Lattimore and Ken Crawley are both out. Nice break for a Rams team without Robert Woods.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

The Rams' slot corner, Nickell Robey-Coleman, will probably join their most productive receiver, Robert Woods, in being out for Sunday's game. Robey-Coleman (thigh) is doubtful. But CB Kayvon Webster, who plays on the outside, practiced in full and is expected to play. Lance Dunbar, who backs up Todd Gurley, is questionable with a knee injury. If he can't go, Justin Davis will fill in, not necessarily Tavon Austin. Sean McVay stressed, once again, that he wants to get Austin involved.

Brees, Goff top-flight QBs this season

When the Saints meet the Rams on Sunday, two of the more efficient QBs in the NFL this season will go head-to-head. Both Drew Brees and Jared Goff have done incredible jobs protecting the football, which has led their teams to impressive records through 10 games,

NFL evaluators make picks on Week 12's best games

We gathered a panel of NFL execs to break down the five biggest games in Week 12. Who wins Saints-Rams, Bills-Chiefs, Broncos-Raiders, Jaguars-Cardinals and Texans-Ravens?

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Apologies, but I made a typo on an earlier post: CB Nickell Robey-Coleman probably won't play; Kayvon Webster probably WILL play. Lamarcus Joyner and Blake Countess are options to fill in for Robey-Coleman in the slot.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said CB Nickell Robey-Coleman, who plays the slot, probably won't play, but CB Kayvon Webster, who plays on the outside, probably won't. Lamarcus Joyner, the starting safety, or Blake Countess can fill in.

NFL Week 12 predictions: Saints at Rams

The Rams comes a tough loss at Minnesota. Meanwhile, the Saints travel across the country to face a Rams offense that has been every bit as surprising this season as New Orleans' breakout defense.

FPI: Saints-Rams practically a toss-up

Two of the NFL's top offenses will collide on Sunday, and according to Elias, this will be the fourth time since the 1970 merger that two teams averaging at least 30 points per game will meet this late in the season.

Rams coach Sean McVay, on Jared Goff limiting interceptions ...

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Rams coach Sean McVay, on if he believes he can ramp up the targets for Sammy Watkins: "I think so. ... Sammy is a special player. You always want to try to get guys like him involved, but ... we never want Jared to feel like he's got to force the ball. Let the coverage and let whatever the defense presents dictate your decision-making process."

Rams QB Jared Goff, on being without Robert Woods: "I don't expect much of a fall-off. I know Robert Woods is special, and his production has been great this year, but I'm looking forward to seeing guys step up this week."

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Rams WR Sammy Watkins has a saying: "90 percent of the time I feel like I'm open. The other 10 percent, some s*** goes bad with the quarterback; a sack of something like that." Still, Watkins echoed Sean McVay's message — that the Rams are going to have to replace Robert Woods by committee. "Maybe I do get more opportunities; you never know. But we do have other guys stepping up."

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Tavon Austin was asked if the Rams have enough to make up for Robert Woods' absence. "Of course," he said. "I feel like every receiver that we have on our team can go somewhere and start on another team."

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

The Rams' injury report is a long one. WR Robert Woods and RB Malcolm Brown will not play. CBs Kayvon Webster and Nickell Robey-Coleman are question marks. Sean McVay said the Rams were being precautionary with RB Lance Dunbar's knee. TE Derek Carrier and CB Troy Hill are expected back this week.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Rams announced they have promoted CB Kevin Peterson from the practice squad. They need help at the position with Kayvon Webster (concussion) and Nickell Robey-Coleman (thigh) on the mend this week. If they can't go, I expect Blake Countess and Troy Hill to replace them. The Rams had an open spot on the 53-man roster after waiving TE Johnny Mundt on Tuesday.
