Correction: The Rams have waived safety Isaiah Johnson from the active roster, which is now down to 51 players with RG Jamon Brown on a roster exemption. OT Darrell Williams Jr. has been added to the practice squad after a tryout today, the team announced.

The Rams are down to four healthy receivers - Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp and Josh Reynolds - with Pharoh Cooper and Mike Thomas being placed on the injured reserve. Coach Sean McVay said Monday that a lack of receiver depth was a concern and that he was exploring more personnel groupings.

Rams RG Jamon Brown returns this week after serving a two-game suspension, but it doesn't sound as though Brown will automatically reclaim his starting role from Austin Blythe, who stood out as a fill-in the last two weeks. "He's played really good football, talking about Austin," coach Sean McVay said Monday. "I think Jamon Brown – what we feel good is this is a situation where we feel like we have two starting caliber guards. As far as how we move forward, it's not a result of anything Jamon hasn't done, but the fact that these are decisions that aren't very clear-cut is because of Austin's play."

The Rams have waived third-string quarterback Brandon Allen, the team announced Tuesday, opening a spot on the 53-man roster (Presumably for RG Jamon Brown, who returns this week from a two-game suspension). The Rams also cut TE Temerrick Hemingway and QB Luis Perez from the practice squad. Hemingway was a sixth-round pick in 2016, but was sidelined last season with a broken fibula.

Another Great Week

Coach Sean McVay was joined by JB Long and D'Marco Farr talked about the win in the home opener vs. the Arizona Cardinals. Coach also talked about losing his Kicker, Greg Zuerlein, right before the start of the game and how Punter Johnny Hekker stepped in. KD jokes about joining Rams; McVay: 'Anytime'

Rams coach Sean McVay says he would have no problem fitting Kevin Durant into the Rams' lineup. "I bet he'd be pretty dangerous in the red zone," McVay joked.

The Rams have placed backup receiver Mike Thomas on the injured reserve. Thomas suffered a hip injury in Week 1. With Thomas and returner/backup receiver Pharoh Cooper both on IR, the Rams only have four receivers (Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp and Josh Reynolds) on their active roster.

Rams RG Jamon Brown returned from his two-game suspension today and is at the team's training facility. Brown is currently listed as a roster exemption.

Rams sign kicker Ficken with Zuerlein injured

Pro Bowl kicker Greg Zuerlein suffered a groin injury during pregame warm-ups Sunday and was not available to kick in a 34-0 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Aaron Neary, a center on the Rams' practice squad, was arrested Sunday by the Simi Valley Police Department on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run, a police department spokesperson said. Neary blew a .17 on a breathalyzer test, twice the legal limit of .08, the spokesperson said. Neary was booked into the Ventura County Jail in Thousand Oaks. Neary was with the Rams through training camp and the preseason before he was cut. The Rams signed him to the practice squad last week. He spent most of last season on the practice squad, but started in a Week 17 game against the 49ers. Neary was an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Washington in 2016.

Rams RB Todd Gurley rushed for 42 yards and 3 touchdowns in 19 carries in a victory over the Cardinals. He also scored on two 2-point conversions. Then Gurley had a funny exchange with a reporter about his fantasy owners. Reporter: "Do you think fantasy people were happy when you were scoring on two-point conversions?" Gurley: "Does it count?" Reporter: "Yeah, some leagues I'm told." Gurley: "Hey man, my fantasy players better be happy with me. But you know, that's why I didn't want to come back in (after the cramp). I'm like, ‘My fantasy people good, we got three touchdowns, we good.'"

After a 34-0 shutout of the Arizona Cardinals, the Rams have a new fan in Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant. Perfect timing, too. Last week, the Rams defensive backs had a very lively conversation in the locker room about which NBA players could play in the NFL. And a couple DB's were convinced they could score 10 points in an NBA game. Durant just might get an invitation.

Rams no longer just the best team on paper

The Rams are proving that an offseason of hype was warranted. They look solid on both offense and defense and could be the NFL's best team.

Aqib Talib, on the Rams' new look defense and how it's come together after a 34-0 shutout of the Cardinals: "It's a great time, it's a great time... You put a bunch of alpha dogs on one defense and it's either going to be good or it's going to be terrible and this one turned out good.

Lindsey Thiry ESPN

After a 34-0 shutout of the Cardinals, the Rams' defense has posted six consecutive scoreless quarters dating to Week 1. And while Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh aren't filling up the stat sheet, their presence has certainly been felt by opposing quarterbacks who are in a hurry to get the ball off. The challenge next week against the Chargers and Phillip Rivers will be to force turnovers, which they were unable to do Sunday.

Rams RB Todd Gurley is questionable to return because he is cramping.
