Colts coach Chuck Pagano was asked Tuesday if there's a point on the calendar that they need to reach before they can determine quarterback Andrew Luck's status for their Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams. Luck continues to be on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from right shoulder surgery. "Again, we're not going to know until we get him out here (practicing)," Pagano said. "The doctors say he's ready, he's healthy, he's 100 percent and he can start practicing, then we'll have that answer." The Colts have maintained the same stance that Luck will be taken off PUP before the regular season starts, but Pagano reiterated that there's still no timetable on when that will take place. The longer Luck remains on the PUP, the more practice time he misses and the odds will continue to increase that he misses at least Week 1 of the regular season.

A couple of key Colts returned to practice Tuesday. OL Jack Mewhort and S Malik Hooker are participating. WR T.Y. Hilton is getting a day off and WR Donte Moncrief continues to wear the red non-contact jersey in practice.

The Colts have signed cornerbacks Chris Culliver and Corey White. The team placed cornerback Darryl Morris on the injured reserve list and waived-injured guard Blake Muir. Muir will revert to the injured reserve list if he clears waivers.

HALFTIME: COLTS 10, COWBOYS 10. Colts coach Chuck Pagano followed through with his desire to have quarterback Scott Tolzien and the first-team offense get more playing time against Dallas. Tolzien played the entire first half, going 10-of-14 for 70 yards. Offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski kept things relatively simply for Tolzien, as the quarterback threw a number of underneath throws. A bright spot for the Colts was the play of rookie running back Marlon Mack, who was making his debut. Mack, the team's fourth-round draft pick, averaged 12.5 yards on his first two carries and also showed that he has the potential of being Frank Gore's replacement down the road.

You wouldn't have guessed that the Colts spent the offseason reshaping their defense based off how they looked in the first quarter against the Dallas Cowboys. The Colts gave up 170 yards and 10 first downs in the first quarter. And what makes it even worse is that the Colts had 10 of their projected 11 starters. The only starter they're missing is safety Malik Hooker, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury.

The Colts are taking the possibility of moving T.J. Green from safety to cornerback seriously. Green took almost all the first-team reps at cornerback in practice Wednesday. Green was selected as a safety in the second round of the 2016 draft.
