The Browns announced they have signed DL Jamie Meder, an exclusive rights free agent who started 15 games last season. Meder may be best known for being dubbed "The Pierogi Prince of Parma" by Joe Thomas. Parma is a reference to the Cleveland suburb where Meder grew up.

Jackson: Browns won't trade No. 1 pick for QB

Browns coach Hue Jackson cherishes the No. 1 overall pick in the draft to the point that he says he wouldn't trade it, even to acquire help at quarterback.

What do the Browns free agent moves on the OL mean for Cam Erving? "That we're going to stick him out at right tackle, see if he can compete and earn the right to be the starting right tackle for the Cleveland Browns," coach Hue Jackson said.

In discussing how the Browns could address the quarterback position, Hue Jackson mentioned the draft, then added: "There's trade opportunities hopefully. I think we'll exhaust every opportunity as we go forward."

Hue Jackson explained why he prefers a private workout when evaluating a quarterback over the player's pro day. Jackson said a private workout is "where you get the player to do exactly what it is you want to see him do as opposed to him coming there with his quarterback coach, it's all scripted. It's exactly how they want it." A private workout gives coaches more opportunity to challenge players.

Are the Garoppolo rumors dead?

The Next Level talks about Adam Schefter telling Tony Grossi that the Patriots will not be trading Jimmy Garoppolo and that Browns fans should let it go.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft was asked if New England would trade QB Jimmy Garoppolo. His answer: "I charge (Bill Belichick) to handle all football matters. We're privileged to have the greatest quarterback in the history of the game, and it looks like he's playing pretty solid. He's off the charts, in my opinion, and we're lucky to have him. That's the most important position on the team, needless to say. I don't think anyone could say you have too much depth at that position. I've charged him to make those decisions. I'll leave that with him."

Browns' Thomas: Kaep viewed as distraction

Browns Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas says NFL teams no longer look at free agent Colin Kaepernick as an elite QB, and his national anthem protests last season were too much for a non-star.

ESPN Stats and Information

Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest mock draft has Mitchell Trubisky going to the Browns with the No. 12 pick, and Deshaun Watson to the Cardinals at No. 13. If Kiper's prediction holds true, it would be only the second time in the last 15 years with no QB drafted in the top 10 picks.
