ESPN's Mel Kiper had this to say about the first overall pick: "(Josh) Allen has been my guy to Cleveland at No. 1 overall since my Mock Draft 1.0 in January. As I wrote then, the NFL is all about projection, and the 6-foot-5 Allen has a high ceiling. He has a rocket arm. He has freakish talent. He has done everything he has needed to do during the pre-draft process -- from the Senior Bowl, to the combine, to interviews with teams -- to be the first pick in this draft."

NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock had this to say about the Browns and the first pick: "My gut tells me that, if you're choosing between the two, (Josh) Allen might have the higher ceiling, but you've swung and missed so many times in Cleveland at quarterback, can you afford another one with your first pick? Your first pick has got to set the tone, and I think at the end of the day it will be Sam Darnold, and he's got a little Brett Favre in him, which I think John (Dorsey) likes. John likes a little swagger."

Draft looming, Browns GM still coy on 'process'

Browns general manager John Dorsey is providing little inkling into what direction Cleveland is heading with the first and fourth picks of the NFL draft.

General manager John Dorsey is not revealing if the Browns have settled on their choice with the first pick. "The draft is seven days away. I'm very confident where we are in the process," Dorsey said.

According to a source, WR Jarvis Landry's new deal with the Browns is scheduled to pay him $75.5 million over the next five years, with $34 million fully guaranteed at signing and $47 million in injury guarantees. That's an average of $15.1 million a year, which ranks fifth among current WR contracts, just ahead of Cincinnati's A.J. Green. Remember, he was already scheduled to make a fully guaranteed $15.982M on his franchise tag this year. So the "new money" average from 2019-22 is about $14.9M per year. Pushing the market for slot receivers way up.

Joel Bitonio has talked with Shon Coleman about moving from right to left tackle, where he will replace Joe Thomas. Bitonio pointed out Coleman played left tackle at Auburn. “He's all in for the move,” Bitonio said. “He says he feels more comfortable there.”
