4-2, 1st in AFC East

Who thought the Bills -- or the Dolphins -- would be 4-2 and tied for the AFC East lead with the Patriots heading into New England's Sunday night matchup? The Patriots were expected to runaway with the division this season, but some of their stumbles combined with a stronger-than-expected start for the Bills should give Buffalo's fans some hope that their 17-year playoff drought could end. Even if the Bills can't emerge with their first division title since 1995, they have a growing shot at a wild-card berth as the season approaches the halfway point.

Taylor finally cashes in deep

Normally known for his precise deep ball, Tyrod Taylor entered Sunday just 9-of-21 with one INT and no TDs on throws of 15-plus yards this season. He completed five such passes against the Bucs for 142 yards and a TD to Logan Thomas.

Bills safety Jordan Poyer suffered what's believed to be a sprained MCL, a source said, in Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. Poyer was injured on the final play of the game and was seen with a wrap around his knee in the locker room.

Bills coach Sean McDermott took blame for his team's end-of-half snafu Sunday, saying he thought his offense could get off three offensive plays before spiking the ball for a field goal. Tyrod Taylor completed a 2-yard pass in bounds and could not get the offense set in time for a spike, leading to the Bills being booed off the field.

Bills CB E.J. Gaines is out for the remainder of Sunday's game with a hamstring injury suffered in the third quarter. Gaines missed Buffalo's last game, in Cincinnati in Week 5, with a groin injury. He was replaced Sunday by Shareece Wright.

OJ Howard TD catch in the red zone. Play action with the rookie on a shallow crossing route. That gives Howard 61 yards receiving on four grabs.

From one former Virginia Tech quarterback to another: Buffalo's Tyrod Taylor threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to tight end Logan Thomas in the third quarter of Sunday's game against Tampa. It was Thomas' second career catch and first touchdown. He converted to tight end in Detroit last season before signing with the Bills.

Bills are getting the traditional mix of the good (running ability) and bad (passing ability) from Tyrod Taylor in Sunday's game against Taylor. The quarterback leads all players in the game with 53 rushing yards but has completed 9 of 18 passes for 100 yards, missing or not throwing to open receivers in some cases. Taylor's decision to throw a 2-yard completion to Jordan Matthews to end the first half will be questioned.

Bills are booed off the field at halftime Sunday with an inexcusable offensive series that saw the clock expire before Tyrod Taylor could spike the ball. With 11 seconds remaining and no timeouts from the Buccaneers' 18-yard line, Tyrod Taylor threw a 2-yard pass to Jordan Matthews in bounds. The offense could then not get to the line in time to spike the ball, resulting in no points from Jameis Winston's interception with 23 seconds remaining in the first half.

Touchdown run for LeSean McCoy in the deep red zone. The Bills RB has seven carries today for 41 yards and one grab for five yards.

After leaving the field with trainers earlier in the second quarter, Bills left guard Richie Incognito returned to the game later in the drive.

Bills guard Richie Incognito left the field with trainers during the second quarter of Sunday's game against Tampa, limping slightly. He was replaced by rookie tackle Dion Dawkins at left guard. Ryan Groy then replaced Dawkins later in the drive.
