Barnwell Show: NFC Picture with Will Brinson

Are you an NFC or an AFC person? In this episode, Bill and Will Brinson of CBS share their allegiances and take a look at the NFC playoff picture as it currently stands, including which teams are most likely to prevail in the South (3:55), West (31:02), East (43:30) and North (56:03).

Falcons coach Dan Quinn on the loss to the Browns: "I told the team I thought we took a step back today. That's tough to see and tough to say. I also told 'em, we must regroup. We're trying to fight our ass off for consistency. And we certainly have made improvement over the last three weeks, and we didn't get the job done today, and certainly have lost some of that consistency that we've been building towards.''

Quinn: Falcons 'took a step back today' (0:30)
Ryan disappointed by Falcons' play against Browns (0:21)

Julio Jones: ``We've got to do a better job offensively. [The Browns] played a lot of two-high the whole game. We just got to find ways to go out there and attack Cover 2. If we don't, we're going to get it for the remainder of the season.''

Chubb has 92-yard TD run in Browns' 28-16 win over Falcons

Rookie Baker Mayfield threw a season-high three touchdown passes and rookie Nick Chubb streaked 92 yards for a TD and the Cleveland Browns ended a four-game losing streak with a stunning 28-16 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Falcons fall to the Browns and rookie QB Baker Mayfield, 28-16. Falcons see their three-game winning streak snap and now fall to 4-5 with the Dallas Cowboys coming to town next weekend. Falcons surrender 427 yards to the Browns, including a 92-yard TD run for UGA's Nick Chubb. No, playoffs aren't out of the question, but Falcons looked far from being a playoff-caliber team today.

Falcons trail Browns 14-10 at halftime. Dan Quinn's defense has no sacks and no quarterback hits on Browns rookie QB Baker Mayfield, who is 12 for 12 for 165 yards with two touchdowns. Browns also averaging 5.1 yards per rush. Falcons need to buckle down on defense and generate a pass rush despite Mayfield's mobility.

With addition of Bruce Irvin as nickel rusher, Falcons seem unconcerned about how snaps will be distributed with Vic Beasley Jr., Takk McKinley, and Irvin. Beasley averaging 47.3 snaps this season with high of 64 vs. Saints, low of 35 vs. Steelers. McKinley averaging 41.1 snaps with high of 49 vs. Bucs, low of 33 vs. Steelers. Irvin, in Oakland, averaged 29.3 snaps with high of 47 vs. Broncos, low of 9 vs. 49ers. Falcons defense on field an average of 65 snaps per game. Varies for pass-rushers based on how much nickel/base used. Beasley's career average is 36.7 snaps, Irvin's 42.4, and McKinley's 29.1. We'll see if all three rush together with Grady Jarrett.

Falcons DC Marquand Manuel addresses the play of Vic Beasley Jr. so far this season and whether he's concerned about Beasley's numbers (1 sack, 4 QB hits in 378 snaps) as the Falcons prepare to add edge rusher Bruce Irvin to the mix.

Falcons add Irvin as Jones returns to practice

The Falcons agreed to terms with Bruce Irvin on a one-year deal Wednesday and plan to play the former Raiders pass-rusher in Sunday's game against the Browns.

Bruce Irvin to me on joining the Falcons: ``This was a dream [come] true. The Patriots and Steelers offered more money, but being able to play for my city and my people, you just can't put a price on that.'' Irvin comes home to Atlanta.
