Week 7 NFL score predictions: Cardinals at Rams

Adrian Peterson might provide a worthy encore to his Big Red debut, but Arizona's ability to contain Jared Goff could be the deciding factor in Sunday's outcome.

It looks like Cardinals cornerback Tramon Williams will start opposite of Patrick Peterson on Sunday against the Rams in place of Justin Bethel. Coach Bruce Arians said Friday that Williams is "in a bunch of packages, and he'll be playing a bunch."

All signs are pointing to Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson playing Sunday against the Rams here in London. He was taken out of last weekend's game because he reaggravated a quad tendon. "Pat has looked fine," coach Bruce Arians said. "Pat has looked fine.”

Bruce Arians was starting to be asked a question about him and Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips being "around for a while"when he cut interrupted the question with a smile on his face "To say it nicely," Arians said. "Yeah, we're old shits. That's for sure."

Ranking NFL playoff chances of struggling contenders

The Cardinals' 3-3 record is extremely soft. The balance of Arizona's schedule won't be very soft. The prospect of playing beyond New Year's Eve appears hard to achieve.

Larry Fitzgerald was asked Thursday by a member of the British media about his thoughts on the NFL's decision to not implement punishments for protesting during the national anthem. His response: “We're just here to play the Rams. That's our focus. We're just trying to get to the division lead. We aren't interested in politics.”

Left tackle D.J. Humphries is still in disbelief that the Cardinals traded for running back Adrian Peterson, especially when he thinks about Peterson and David Johnson paring together when Johnson returns from fractured wrist. "The fact that we got (Adrian Peterson and) David Johnson on the same team … like, that's a thing. You know how the NBA wouldn't let Chris Paul go to the Lakers that time? How the f--- did they let us get Adrian Peterson on our team, on the same team that got Larry Fitzgerald, Carson Palmer, Pat Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu? Like who said that was OK? Like, they let that happen. That's strange. I'm excited about it though."

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians doesn't think safety Tyrann Mathieu is playing like his 2015 version, which was in the conversation for defensive player of the year. "No, health-wise, he is, but he's not playing like it yet," Arians said. Arians said it's "probably" related to Mathieu's confidence.
