Ellerbe, 31, will be placed on injured reserve, but he is expected to be healthy within about three weeks. Ellerbe's career has been derailed by a series of injuries after he hit his peak with the Ravens' 2012 Super Bowl team. He flashed his athletic potential when healthy in New Orleans but played in only 15 games over two years.

A few thoughts on new Miami Dolphins cornerback Alterraun Verner: A role player and part-time starter the past two years in Tampa Bay. I still expect the fast-rising Xavien Howard to start opposite Byron Maxwell. But Verner is a good veteran presence to push Howard and also has enough starting experience to fill in if there is an injury.

Assistant Washtenaw County Prosecutor Lou Danner III opened his closing statement in the Jourdan Lewis domestic violence trial the same way he opened his opening statement: He knew what he was doing. He knew what he was doing was wrong. Yet he did it anyway. Danner III then reviewed the facts of the case again with the jury, including going through the accuser telling Jourdan Lewis it was not ok for her to be struck by a pillow after the first strike and he did it anyway. He also took the tape measure out and placed it on the stand in front of the jury to show the distance between the accuser and Lewis during the pillow throwing.
