A Chargers' fan, Smith had conversations with Philip Rivers, shown here, Antonio Gates and Melvin Gordon in the locker room afterwards. Smith will attend Sunday's Chargers' game vs. the Denver Broncos.

Bart and Cherry Starr are donating several items to the Packers Hall of Fame in a presentation Monday. They include Starr's three-diamond championship ring that honors the Packers' three consecutive championships, Cherry's Kodak necklace, the 50th Anniversary Super Bowl MVP jacket and three watches. Starr and his family are planning to attend Sunday's game at Lambeau and the donation presentation.

A 3-4 defensive alignment would allow the Bucs to utilize Kendell Beckwith more. He's done a terrific job stepping in for Kwon Alexander at middle linebacker, which was his position at LSU. The Atlanta Falcons did a lot of hybrid stuff when Mike Smith brought in Mike Nolan in Atlanta. Something to keep an eye on.

On his radio show on 620 WDAE, Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter said Friday that there has been some consideration for more 3-4 defensive alignments once all linebackers are fully healthy. We've only seen little sprinklings of it here and there. Linebacker is a strength for the Bucs, they've had some injuries up front and they're looking for ways to generate more pressure.

The Patriots officially ruled out CB Stephon Gilmore (concussion), CB Eric Rowe (groin) and LB Harvey Langi (back) for Sunday's game against the Falcons. In addition, LB Elandon Roberts (ankle), CB Johnson Bademosi (abdomen) and TE Jacob Hollister (chest) are questionable. It is also notable that RB Rex Burkhead was removed from the injury report, paving the way for his return.

Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said LB Reuben Foster is not at 100 percent yet from his ankle sprain but barring any setbacks between now and Sunday, he expects Foster to be ready to go against the Cowboys.

Here's the final Seahawks practice report with designations for Sunday's game vs. the Giants. Note that C.J. Prosise, Michael Bennett, Marcus Smith and Nazair Jones were all full participants the last two days (Friday was a walk-through, so participation was estimated), which is a good sign for their availability. All are listed as questionable.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan called Dwight Clark, who will be honored on Sunday, a "hero to this town and to this country" from a sports perspective. Shanahan spent time around Clark when he was a kid and again recently and said Clark is "as cool of a guy as it gets." Shanahan is wearing the Clark-themed shirt the team is giving away Sunday.

Anthony Barr NOT fined for his hit on Aaron Rodgers but was fined $9,115 for his head butt of Davante Adams that drew an unsportsmanlike penalty. Also Laquon Treadwell was fined $24,309 for his illegal blindside hit on defenseless player (Lenzy Pipkins) and Jake Ryan was fined $18,231 for his horse collar tackle.

Colts coach Chuck Pagano spoke too soon earlier today when he said RB Robert Turbin would get a second opinion on elbow next week. The Colts have placed Turbin on IR and elevated Josh Ferguson to the active roster.

WR Keenan Allen (shoulder), T Joe Barksdale (foot) and DT Corey Liuget (back) all did not practice on Friday for the Chargers and are listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. Broncos. Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said that Allen fell down in practice on Thursday, but he's hopeful the Cal product will play. "He wants to play, but we've got to do what's best for Keenan," Lynn said.

The Seahawks list CB Jeremy Lane (groin) as doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Giants, which means he'll likely miss his second straight game. Rookie Shaquill Griffin would again start opposite Richard Sherman in Lane's absence, with Justin Coleman handling the slot in nickel situations. Seattle lists DL Michael Bennett (heel) as questionable, but coach Pete Carroll said it looks like he'll be able to play. Also questionable: RB C.J. Prosise (ankle), DE Marcus Smith (ankle), DT Nazair Jones (knee). LG Luke Joeckel (knee) and DE Cliff Avril (neck) are out, as expected.

Saints CB Delvin Breaux was in uniform on the practice field Friday, though he was not participating in the portion open to the media. This was the first week Breaux was eligible to practice, and he is eligible to play his first game in Week 9 after he began the year on injured reserve with a broken fibula. “I think Delvin's on or ahead of schedule,” Saints coach Sean Payton said. “And I think it's not long here before he's doing everything.”

Ezekiel Elliot's hearing for an injunction is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 30, which would allow him to play against the Washington Redskins on Oct. 29. The NFL is asking for an expedited hearing next week with hopes of a resolution by Oct. 27. If Elliott were to not win the injunction, his six-game suspension would begin immediately.
