Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said that Tony Romo has broken a bone in his back, but did not rule Romo out for season opener.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Tony Romo broke his bone in his back but did not rule the quarterback out of the season opener against the New York Giants. Romo hurt his back in the third play of Thursday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Finally a touchdown for the Chiefs in the red zone, but it wasn't easy. They had to survive an Anthony Sherman fumble, a pass that Jeremy Maclin bobbled but caught and then a video review of the TD, a 1-yard run by Spencer Ware. Chiefs lead the Bears 13-0 late in the first half.

The Dolphins made several cuts today. WRs Matt Hazel and AJ Cruz and CB Brandon Harris were the key names. The team is now down to 78 players. They need to get down to 75 players on Tuesday.

Another Chiefs drive stalled deep in Chicago's end of the field and resulted in a field goal. Again, neither of Alex Smith's final two passes went into the end zone. Smith took a couple of big hits on the drive, one resulting in a helmet to helmet penalty on the Bears. Chiefs lead 6-0 in the second quarter.

Alex Smith is having a day for the Chiefs. He's 9-of-11 passing for 82 yards. His biggest play was. 17-yard scramble on 3rd and 14 to keep a scoring drive alive. But his two latest passes failed to go into the end zone and the Chiefs had to settle for a field goal and a 3-0 lead over the Bears.
