Not saying the shoulder injury that will keep wide receiver Philly Brown out of tonight's game will cost him a spot on the final roster, but he and Damiere Byrd aren't that much different if the Panthers are sold on Byrd. And let's say Kevin Norwood or Stephen Hill turn heads against the Patriots. Just something to monitor.

John Keim ESPN Staff Writer

Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins didn't play last week vs. the Jets but he is expected to play one half tonight vs. Buffalo. But that could change if he has a strong first quarter. The Redskins goal is to get a rhythm and then leave healthy.

Bill O'Brien said he expects the starters to play about the same number of snaps as they did last week against the Saints. "A lot of it depends on how it's going, you know?" O'Brien said. "If it's something where we feel like we want to get Brock (Osweiler) some more snaps, let's just say in the first half, then we'll continue to play him."

Jeremy Fowler ESPN Staff Writer

Artie Burns has been working on the field but I'm told he's not expected to play tonight barring unforeseen change.

John Keim ESPN Staff Writer

Based on large numbers of starters not playing tonight for Bills, looks like Rex Ryan is almost treating this as a fourth preseason game, not third. Bills will plenty of younger and less experienced players in action tonight. EJ Manuel figures to play bulk of game at quarterback with Cardale Jones (shoulder) sidelined.
