No. 7 Clemson will have had two weeks to stew over its 27-24 loss at Syracuse. The Tigers will try to bounce back Saturday night against Georgia Tech. "Losing is never fun," Tigers tailback Adam Choice said. "You can't win ‘em all. Well, you can, but it's rare."

K-State coach Bill Snyder indicates Jesse Ertz will get the start over Alex Delton at QB Saturday at Kansas, even though Delton led the Wildcats to 35 points over the weekend against Oklahoma. "It would be Jesse's if he is 100 percent healthy, which we anticipate that he will be." Ertz has been out the last two games with a knee injury.

Statement from Michigan's Lavert Hill about gesture at PSU game: "I sincerely regret my inappropriate gesture at the end of Saturday's football game. I let my emotions get the best of me and learned a valuable lesson. I am truly sorry for this offensive gesture and vow that it will not happen again."

Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley said QB Kyler Murray got several snaps against Kansas State, largely because Baker Mayfield was still ailing from a shoulder injury from the week before. Mayfield didn't practice all week. "He had a tough time," said Riley, who added Mayfield is doing better today.

Some possible candidates for the Georgia Southern job: Navy run game coordinator Ashley Ingram, Kennesaw State head coach Brian Bohannon, Arkansas State offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner, Indianapolis Colts RBs coach Jemal Singleton (triple option background at Air Force), Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer (former West Georgia head coach). Big question for candidates: Whether Georgia Southern is married to triple option.

Iowa State is in the AP Poll for the first time since 2005, when the Cyclones climbed as high as 22nd. They'll host 4th ranked TCU on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 3:30 ET. You can catch all the action on ABC, ESPN 2 or streaming live on the ESPN app.

After thumping Texas Tech, Iowa State is ranked for the first time in 12 years. The 5-2 Cyclones are No. 25 in the AP poll.

Penn State is closing the gap with Ohio State in FPI, which predicts strength above average (in points per game) going forward.

ESPN Stats and Information

This is Alabama's 98th week ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll, tying Notre Dame for the third-most all-time (Ohio State 105, Oklahoma 101)

Following its overtime win over Texas, Oklahoma State has snuck into the current Strength of Record top 10.

Seth Walder ESPN Analytics

Following USC's loss to Notre Dame yesterday, the Pac-12 has just a 2% chance of having a team finish in the top four in Strength of Record at the end of the regular season.

ESPN's "College GameDay" is headed to Columbus for Ohio State's home showdown against Penn State, a Top 10 matchup with huge playoff implications. Ohio State will make its 40th appearance on the show and will host for the 17th time (most among any school) and the second this season. Penn State makes its 18th appearance and will be on consecutive shows after hosting GameDay this past week for the Michigan game.

Seth Walder ESPN Analytics

Penn State may have impressed last night against Michigan, but FPI is still not particularly bullish on the Nittany Lions' chances to win the Big Ten. The model gives them an 18% chance to win the conference, behind Wisconsin (30%) and Ohio State (52%).

Seth Walder ESPN Analytics

Notre Dame now has an 18% chance to finish the season with a top-four Strength of Record. Probably not coincidentally, the Fighting Irish have a 19% chance to win out, per FPI.

Seth Walder ESPN Analytics

After routing USC last night, Notre Dame received a 2.7-point upgrade to its FPI rating and moved up three spots in the FPI rankings to No. 5. No new teams entered the top 10, and the order of the top four teams did not change.

Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson will miss the remainder of the season with a torn knee ligament, a school official told ESPN's Chris Low on Sunday morning. Patterson tore the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Saturday night's 40-24 loss to LSU, the source said. JUCO transfer Jordan Ta'amu completed 7 of 11 passes for 78 yards against LSU and will probably start next week's game against Arkansas (12 p.m. ET, SEC Network).

From ESPN Stats & Info: Penn State's Saquon Barkley has the nation's longest active streak of games with a touchdown (14). He last didn't reach the end zone against Ohio State in PSU's win last fall. Ohio State allows just 1.3 yards after contact on runs, and despite Barkley's brilliance against Michigan, he had only 6 rush yards after contact.

Arizona moved to 3-0 during games in which Khalil Tate took the bulk of the snaps at quarterback. On his seven TD runs this season, he's averaging 57.1 yards per carry.

Saquon Barkley describes one of his plays that stuck with him the post against Michigan, and still finds a way to constructively criticize it, even though the Penn State RB finished with 108 yards and two touchdowns.
