Jeff Long, in his introductory press conference as Kansas AD, offered urged fans to buy tickets and support the struggling KU football program: "It's time to break the cycle," said Long, the former Arkansas AD and CFP committee chair. "It's not going to be easy. We're going to need all of your help to do it. Coach [David] Beaty is our coach. We all need to support the program and support the young men who play the game."

Longtime collegiate athletic trainer Dr. Rod Walters, a sports medicine consultant, will conduct the external review into the death of Maryland offensive lineman Jordan McNair, according to a university spokesman. The review will begin by the end of this week. Also, football players have been told that regularly scheduled practices are voluntary until further notice.
