Nick Chubb maintains incredible balance. So hard to bring down on the first hit.

Two and a half hour before kickoff, it's pouring rain at Folsom Field. It won't be a problem for Ralphie, of course, but if the rain doesn't let up it'll impact play-calling.

On Pearl Street in Boulder, some fans are passing the time before the 8 p.m. kick, local time, by watching this street performance.

Talk about a second-half turnaround. After trailing 10-7 at halftime, Michigan has scored 3 TDs in the 2nd half while Purdue's offense has has 0 1st downs in the second half.

Gary Patterson on TCU QB Kenny Hill: "Everybody has been waiting for him to fall. ... but I've been telling you. ... Kenny is learning how to win."

USC took advantage of four interceptions by Cal QB Ross Bowers - boy, did he float 'em out there - and scored 17 points in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, lifting the fifth-ranked Trojans to a 30-20 victory over Cal today. The game was tied at 13-13 after three quarters.

Georgia played on Mississippi State's aggression on defense to start the game, dialing up a successful flea flicker on its first play from scrimmage for a 59-yard touchdown pass.

As a result of such massive preseason expectations, USC's first four games have to be considered underwhelming. Still, the Trojans are about to go to 4-0 and at this time a year ago, they were sitting at 1-3. Next week is massive: Friday night at Washington State, which will also enter the game undefeated.

If my research is right, Gary Patterson joins Mike Gundy, Bill Snyder, Nick Saban and Mark Dantonio as the only Power 5 coaches to win in every stadium in their conference.

Adam Rittenberg ESPN Staff Writer

How would USC combat not having its top running back, No. 2 receiver and No. 2 linebacker? Force 6 turnovers (and counting). Clancy Pendergast's group has tormented Ross Bowers (4 interceptions) and the Cal offense today. After a shaky start against Western Michigan, USC's defense has really buckled down the past two weeks.

Alex Scarborough ESPN Staff Writer

The running game with Nick Fitzgerald and Aeris Williams is solid, but for Mississippi State to put up points against this tough Georgia defense, it will need to get better play out of its wide receivers. Donald Gray, maybe the best playmaker of the bunch, has been underwhelming so far this season.

Three minutes into the fourth quarter, Clemson was on the ropes. Things changed quickly, as the Tigers reeled off 27 straight, led by freshman Travis Etienne, who finished with 9 carries, 113 yards and 2 TDs. Dabo Swinney has insisted he has "three worthy starters" at running back, and Etienne wasn't part of that group. But he's now racked up three 50-yard runs on just 23 carries to perhaps force Swinney's hand.

Sam Darnold has had to go short today with his passes. He hasn't completed a pass thrown 15 or more yards downfield today (o-for-8 with an interception). But short passes have been his friend. He's 25-of-29 for 222 yards and 2 TDs on passes less than 15 yards through the air. Darnold entered the day completing 41% of his downfield throws with 5 TD this season

Joel Anderson ESPN

After a scoreless 3rd quarter, USC has scored 17 points in little more than 4 minutes. And Trojans RT Chuma Edoga was blowing kisses to the Cal crowd.

Adam Rittenberg ESPN Staff Writer

UCF's 38-10 win at Maryland sets up a huge AAC showdown next week as Memphis visits Orlando in a rescheduled game. It could be a preview of the league title game and features two teams in the mix for the New Year's Six, and two coaches (Scott Frost and Mike Norvell) considered to be most likely to earn Power 5 jobs in the near future.

Joel Anderson ESPN

Cal QB Ross Bowers threw into — *raises magnifying glass to the replay* — quadruple coverage for the interception and USC DB Yikili Ross returns it 42 yards.

Joel Anderson ESPN

Points off turnovers: USC 10, Cal 0. Points: USC 23, Cal 13.

I guess Purdue gets a win by forfeit? No Michigan players listed on depth chart for today's game

Edward Aschoff ESPN Staff Writer

Sam Darnold right now against Cal's defense: In pocket: 16-of-22 for 140 yards and an INT Outside pocket: 6-of-11 for 58 yards and a TD. He's also 2-for-12 for 25 yards and an INT on throws 10 yards or more through the air

Jake Trotter ESPN Staff Writer

Kenny Hill on third down today. 8 of 11 passing for 108 yards -- and seven first downs.

Joel Anderson ESPN

Chase McGrath is USC's early-season MVP. The freshman just hit another FG, this one from 46 yards to give the Trojans a 16-13 lead. He's 6-of-7 this year.

Bully checking out Uga's digs.

Mark Dantonio and Michigan State walk by one of the main tailgating lots outside Spartan Stadium before suiting up for each home game. It's a warm day for those sweatsuits, nearly 90 degrees a couple hours before kickoff in East Lansing.

Brian Kelly brought his green for Notre Dame's visit to Michigan State tonight. Both teams have arrived a couple hours prior to kickoff.

Joel Anderson ESPN

USC's struggles running the ball against the Cal defensive front shows up again on a failed 4th-and-1. The Trojans have 95 yards on 20 carries, but really 76 on 19 without Darnold's 19-yard scramble earlier.
