BC ties the game with a 1-yard TD run, and the natives are getting restless in Clemson. The Tigers have run 24 plays for 85 yards since scoring on a long drive in the second quarter. Clemson's normally explosive offense has just two plays of more than 15 yards — both completions to Hunter Renfrow.

Purdue leads Michigan 10-7 at halftime after Michigan's offense continues to have issues. Only 131 total yards on offense for the Wolverines and an interception from backup quarterback John O'Korn. Starter Wilton Speight left the game in the first quarter after taking an awkward hit on a sack, and is yet to return.

Bradley Chubb apologized through the football program's Twitter account for spitting at midfield after the Florida State win. "I let my emotions get the best of me. I have the utmost respect for Coach (Jimbo) Fisher and Florida State."

UCF coach Scott Frost told me during the Knights' two-week break he worried about getting out of rhythm on offense after putting up 61 in the opener against FIU. So far, the Knights have over 300 yards and 21 points through three quarters against Maryland.

NC State coach Dave Doeren on the big win over Florida State, after so many heartbreaking losses: "Our players came here with a dream three and four years ago, and that was to help me and our staff elevate our program and be competitive and be a contender in this conference. Today was a great step in the right direction for all of us that way."

NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb after video showed him spitting on the Florida State midfield logo after the game: "I don't remember doing that. I always spit when I'm playing football. It wasn't intentional at all."

Two hours from kickoff at Kinnick Stadium as Iowa looks to avenge a 41-14 loss to Penn State last year, the Hawkeyes' worst defeat in the regular season since a 37-point loss at Minnesota in 2014. Iowa players dug into film of the loss in State College, despite the carnage. "That kind of game will make you want to kick it back into gear and get back at it," star linebacker Josey Jewell said. Iowa's chance is here tonight against the No. 4 Nittany Lions to get noticed nationally.

A couple of halftime stats tell you all you need to know about Alabama's manhandling of Vanderbilt. The Crimson Tide have 19 first downs to the Commodores' two. What's more, Alabama has run 48 plays, while Vanderbilt has just 49 yards of total offense.

And for the 2nd-straight week, 5th-ranked USC goes into halftime tied with an unranked opponent. Cal evens it up at 13-13 on a 21-yard FG on the final play of the half. Buckle up.

Nick Wagoner ESPN Staff Writer

It was a mostly underwhelming first half for USC QB Sam Darnold, who continues to struggle to find a rhythm save for a big chunk of the Trojans' win against Stanford. Darnold was 16-of-24 for 157 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the opening half against Cal. Darnold seemed to get better in the second quarter before an interception down the seam.

USC calls timeout with :29 left in the half, apparently reeling after allowing completions of 27 and 11 yards on consecutive plays. Cal will have 1st and goal from the 2.

Turns out Wharton's knee was down before the ball came out. That's a 25-yard reception by Wharton and first down for the Bears.

USC CB Iman Marshall fell down, got beat by Cal WR Vic Wharton III, hustled back into the play and then may have caused a fumble. Officials reviewing to see if Wharton's knee was down.

For a freshman walk-on, Chase McGrath has been good money for USC. He hits another FG, this one from 34 yards to put the Trojans up 13-10. McGrath is 4-of-5 on the season.

Cal coach Justin Wilcox told me this week he's pleased with players' overall understanding of the defense but wants to see greater attention to detail. "Whether it's an alignment thing or eye control or execution of the technique, we've got to grow there," Wilcox said. The most exciting thing for Cal fans? "By far, our best football is in front of us," Wilcox said.

It's been ugly in many ways but Texas A&M is one play from being 4-0. Wins like today's aren't racking up chits for Kevin Sumlin. Aggies have been here before. Playing defense would help.

Darnold has been begging to throw that interception to Cal DB Josh Drayden today and he finally did it, deep in USC territory. It's Darnold's 7th INT of the season.

Florida State safety Derwin James said he needs to do better.

Can't tell if it's absence of RoJo or improved Cal defense or both, but USC hasn't had much luck running today. Take away Darnold's 19-yard scramble and they've got 40 yards on 11 carries.

Jimbo Fisher says he has to do a better job coaching.
