ESPN Stats and Information

Syracuse is currently the 1st team out if you seed the tournament according to Strength of Record which is a measure of who "deserves" to be in the tournament as things currently stand. Their Strength of Schedule is 31st, not too bad, but for comparison, TCU's SOS is 32nd and they are 17-11 while Syracuse is 17-12. TCU is the last at-large deserving according to SOR. That one extra loss is the difference.

There were several notable streaks snapped with No. 22 Butler's upset over No. 2 Villanova: - It snapped a 48-game win streak at The Pavilion for Villanova and was the 1st loss there for this senior class (was 45-0). - It snapped an 18-game home win streak overall for Villanova (lost home game at Wells Fargo Center vs Providence last season). - It was Villanova's 1st ever home loss an AP top-2 team (was 13-0). - It was Butler's first ever road win against an AP top-5 team (was 0-11). - It was Butler's 1st ever win at Villanova (was 0-3).

Butler's win at Villanova Wednesday night doesn't change the Big East race: Both teams walked on the floor knowing they were finishing second and first, respectively, in the regular-season race. What it does change -- at least right now -- is Butler's NCAA tournament resume. Sweeping Villanova means two wins against a likely No. 1 seed, including one on the road, alongside a neutral-court win over Arizona and home wins over Cincinnati and Northwestern. It's the kind of accomplishment that, all else equal, can convince the committee to move you up a seed line (or two) on Selection Sunday. It's a big deal.

Wild night on the bubble. Syracuse got the biggest win of the night, beating Duke. Providence and Seton Hall both with huge wins, over Creighton and Xavier, respectively. Wake Forest and Illinois State kept their respective hopes alive, so did Vanderbilt. California had a major chance, but blew a lead to Oregon. TCU and Kansas State both suffered losses, with the Wildcats' home defeat to Oklahoma State potentially looming large. Tennessee's loss to Vandy hurts. Pittsburgh and Georgetown probably both totally done after their losses.

No. 22 Butler beats No. 2 Villanova 74-66. The ViewFromVegas is the Bulldogs did it as 10-point road underdogs and +450 on the money line.
