NCAA president Mark Emmert, speaking to the autonomy group at the NCAA convention, addressed the ongoing federal investigation into men's basketball. Emmert updated the group on the work of the Rice Commission, formed to study the problems that plague the sport. Emmert said the commision continues to speak to a wide range of experts inside and outside of college athletics and "seek answers to the problems that have bedeviled college basketball." The commission will make a report and issue recommendations to NCAA leadership in April. "It's up to us to take up that mantle," Emmert said. "We've all made a commitment to have meaningful change -- not trivial change -- in place by tipoff 2018."
