In a Facebook Live video hosted by the Wall Street Journal, retired Lakers icon Kobe Bryant spoke about his NBA career, becoming a venture capitalist, his impressions of Silicon Valley and more. Since the 2016-17 NBA season opened Tuesday, Bryant was asked if he'll check the scores. "I have no championship on the line," Bryant said. "I have absolutely no reason to check the scores."

Patience Required in Lakerland

Ty Lue says that his ring with the Cavs as a coach means more to him than the two rings he earned as a player with the Lakers: "It meant more because of everything I had to go through. I think the Lakers, when I won two championships, we were favored to win so being the underdogs going into the Finals, being down 3-1, going through all the things I had to go through in the second half of the season and our team had to go through, this meant a lot more to me than the first two."

After waiving second-year wing Anthony Brown, the Los Angeles Lakers' 15-man roster is set -- and it includes both Thomas Robinson and Metta World Peace, two players who were believed to have been fighting for the team's final roster spot. Brown, a second-round draft pick out of Stanford in 2015, played sparingly for the Lakers last season and throughout the preseason.

The Lakers officially announce that they have waived forward Yi Jianlian. "Yi was productive in practices and games with us, and was a consummate professional both on and off the court," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said in a release. "However, he felt that the minutes and opportunities he'd be afforded here were not in line with his goals and ambitions, and that he'd be better off in a different situation. We appreciate his efforts and wish him great success as he goes forward with his career." The Lakers will have to decide by 5 p.m. whether their final roster spot will go to Thomas Robinson or Metta World Peace.
