Jeff Hornacek noted that the Knicks were "a little unsettled" on offense, which is to be expected if this was the first night the club's starting five played together. The Knicks probably lose this game 9 out 10 times but you have to think the offense looks better if Noah and Rose were available the entire preseason.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich on the World Series: "I'm a big Cubbie boy, coming from that area. I'd rather do anything that have to guard those three guys (Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant). Although all I have to do is watch, I don't have to guard them."

The Cavaliers' humongous video board is serving as the best view of the World Series outside of Progressive Field itself.

As during the preseason, both the Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers linking together as teams during tonight's national anthem.

As the Cavs game lets out, they move towards Progressive Field. Thousands now watching game on big TVs between arena and stadium

Michael C. Wright ESPN Staff Writer

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich on Craig Sager: "He's somebody who has endured more than I can even imagine, all the treatment he's gone through. It seems to go up and down and up and down. He's high and then he's dejected because of what's going on. He's been through it all, and he still smiles and still jokes and still has a great sense of humor. He's just an iconic and weird and wonderful guy all at the same time."

ESPN Stats and Information

The Knicks had 26 plays Tuesday in which a player started and finished the possession without making a pass. On those plays, the Knicks scored 17 points on 33.3% shooting and committed 4 turnovers.

Not the debut that Jeff Hornacek was hoping for: Knicks fall by 29 in the opener and shoot just 37 percent from the floor. The defense was the most alarming issue: New York allowed Cleveland to hit 49 percent from the floor and struggled to defend the arc and pick and roll plays. The club also had no answer for Kyrie Irving and LeBron James, who combined for 48 points.

After putting up 23 points and 12 rebounds in Cleveland's 117-88 win over New York on ring night, Kevin Love tells the crowd in The Q: "It's hard to put into words what tonight meant."

Chris Haynes

Klay Thompson told ESPN the team doesn't have a plan to orchestrate a peaceful demonstration during the national anthem. He said it was discussed a little bit in preseason, but not much beyond that.

The Cavs are up by 27 and during the last time out the entire bench -- led by LeBron James -- was singing along to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up." So it's safe to say opening night has been as success.

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

The Knicks turned it over too often tonight and didn't get enough from their top players on offense. Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick Rose, Courtney Lee & Brandon Jennings have shot a combined 21-for-60 (35%) tonight. Hard to win when your top 5 shoot that poorly.

Adam Reisinger

Roberto Pérez homered right as the Cavs-Knicks game went to timeout, meaning the fans still in The Q got to see the Indians catcher round the bases. They're showing the World Series game on the scoreboards during every timeout -- and will show it on the Humungotron when the basketball game ends.

LeBron sat 3 games this preseason and avg'd just 18 minutes in the games he did play. Yep, he really messed around and got a triple-double.

Dave McMenamin ESPN Staff Writer

LeBron James opens up the 2016-17 season with his 43rd career triple-double (19p 11r 14a) to tie him with Fat Lever for 6th all-time. Decent.

Adam Reisinger

LeBron James draws a huge ovation from the crowd as he pulls down his 10th rebound, giving him his 43rd career regular-season triple-double. He checks out shortly after, likely done for the night with 19 points, 11 boards and 14 assists.
