Lonzo Ball said he feels "pretty good" after playing 17 minutes. Ball said he could feel his left MCL when he moved side to side, specifically sliding to his right but that doctors told him it won't get worse. Ball also said he "liked it a lot" playing alongside Isaiah Thomas.
Dallas native Julius Randle collected his fifth career triple-double with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists against the Mavs. He made 9-of-13 shots from the field and repeatedly hurt the Mavs out of the post with his passing.
Manu Ginobili had a chest X-ray, "as a precaution," but he's good. He was having a little trouble breathing. Said he was having trouble expanding his chest to breathe. Said it happened when he took a charge from Will Barton. I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs held out Ginobili from Sunday's game at Cleveland.
Marcus Smart missed a month because of a thigh injury and a hand injury. He believes the time off will help him down the stretch of the season. "To have that break, it's kind of like my break was kind of like a cheat-sheet for me," Smart said after Friday's win. "I got fresh legs ... still working out the kinks in my legs, but it just gives me more energy to bring to this team and intensity and pick this team up especially on the defensive end."
Lonzo Ball played 17 minutes. Luke Walton said he could've used Ball a couple more minutes before reaching his minutes limit set for the game if needed. Ball will still be held out tomorrow against Sacramento as the team remains cautious.
Luke Walton liked what he saw in limited minutes from Lonzo Ball and Isaiah Thomas on the floor together. Walton said he wanted to see the ball move with two point guards on the floor together. The Lakers had a total of 32 assists with Thomas and Ball accounting for 10 of them.
Kyrie Irving on the Celtics bench giving his team a big lift in Friday's win. Boston's bench outscored the Pistons' bench 65-21: "It builds a lot of confidence to be able to play our style of basketball for a full 48 minute game. I believe we had 30 assists tonight so the ball was hopping, getting in the paint and attacking the defense, and creating opportunities for one another. Defensively after the first quarter I felt like once we limited their transition game, made them play against our half court defense then we did a great job. When our bench is playing like that, we're making shots, they play with the type of pace they did tonight, the unselfishness, it makes the game a lot easier."
Sending positive thoughts to my guy Jimmy Butler, just about the most most likeable dude you could hope to meet. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
