The Rockets informed Corey Brewer he was traded to the Lakers following Tuesday's practice. "Yeah, I was surprised," Brewer said to ESPN. "I wasn't expecting to be moved. Teams are trying to makes moves at the deadline. (Houston) wanted another scorer and they made the trade. I respect their decision." Brewer's shot just wasn't consistent with the Rockets. He was averaging a career-low 4.2 points per game and despite shooting 50 percent from the field the past seven games, he shot just 28.9 percent in the previous 10 games. "If I was making shots, I would probably still be here, you never know," Brewer said. "I love Houston I don't want to leave but I have no choice. I hope my shots starts falling with the Lakers."

Derrick Rose was reminded on Tuesday that he's talked about how much he loves playing in NY: "It doesn't matter if you're on the trading block," Rose said. "I love it (here). But it's not up to me. It's up to the front office. I don't have a problem with the coaching staff. I don't have a problem with my teammates."

Newly acquired Rockets guard Lou Williams will be paid $7 million this season and $7 million next year as part of a three-year $21 million deal he signed in July 2015. Corey Brewer, who also signed a three-year contract in July 2015, will earn $7.6 million each of the next two seasons with the Lakers. Brewer signed a three-year contract worth $23.4 million.

The Houston Rockets traded veteran forward Corey Brewer and their 2017 first-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for veteran guard Lou Williams on Tuesday night according to multiple sources. Williams brings additional scoring to the Rockets bench, something GM Daryl Morey said he was hoping to accomplish by the trade deadline, which is Thursday. Williams, combined with reserve guard Eric Gordon, have scored 1,835 points.

Footnote that probably won't be important: no protections on the Rockets pick heading to Lakers, source says.
