Jimmy Butler, on finding out about OKC trade: "It was crazy, I was in the locker room with both of them afterwards and said the same thing I always do: "Have a great day." Me, not knowing that the trade had went through yet. Obviously I talked to Taj and Doug both right after. Forever my guys, man. I hate to see guys go like that, but it's a business at the end of the day. Everybody's got to accept that."

Jimmy Butler on Taj Gibson: "Taj was amazing to me all the years that I've been here. One thing you could count on Taj, he was coming in bright spirited every day. He isn't emotional as I am on a day to day basis. Any day that anybody walked in pissed off or sad or whatever it may be, all you got to do is look at Taj, man. Taj is always smiling. That's what we're going to miss. He did all the little things for us and played extremely hard. But I think the person that he was -- that's what's going to be missed. Basketball is basketball, that's forever going to be my guy from Fort Greene, Brooklyn."

Mavs owner Mark Cuban: "The goal has been to get younger and build an athletic core to take some of the defensive pressure off of Dirk and prepare us for the future."

No official word yet on availability tonight against the Lakers for Enes Kanter (participated in shootaround), or Doug McDermott and Taj Gibson. The new additions were in the building though. Gibson will wear No. 22, McDermott will wear No. 25.

ESPN Stats and Information

The Philadelphia 76ers have selected four players in the lottery since 2014. Ben Simmons will become the third player in that group to not play in the season after being drafted. Jahlil Okafor played in 53 games after being drafted No. 3 overall by the 76ers in 2015.

Tim MacMahon ESPN Staff Writer

Mavs president Donnie Nelson on perceived lack of value for 76ers in Nerlens Noel deal: "Look, they had an extremely difficult situation. They were overstocked at the center position. You're looking at basically the possibility of a couple-month rental, and so I think they did the best that they could with the situation they had. It was really a need position for us, and it was taking the best possible deal they could get. They like Justin Anderson a lot. He is the critical piece, and it was hard for us to give them that piece."
