Final Power Rankings: Where do Brewers slot?

Yes, there's an "oh what could have been" feeling to this season, given the way it ended, but there's so much for Brewers fans to feel positive about.

Aaron Wilkerson pitches Brewers past Cardinals, 6-1

Aaron Wilkerson took a perfect game into the sixth inning, Brett Phillips hit a three-run homer and the Milwaukee Brewers closed out their near-miss of a season with a 6-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.

Familiar names atop Saturday's longest homers

Aaron Judge led the way by nearly 50 feet with his record-breaking bomb on Saturday. He wasn't the only big name with a big bat near the top, as Kyle Schwarber and Joey Gallo were next. A.J. Pollock and Domingo Santana rounded out the top five.

The Rockies are headed to the postseason for the first time since 2009 as the Brewers suffered a brutal loss, blowing a 6-0 lead as the Cardinals scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth. The Rockies will take on the Diamondbacks on Wednesday with Jon Gray versus Zack Greinke the likely pitching matchup. It was tough 10-game stretch for the Brewers, blowing a late lead to the Pirates on an error and losing on a walk-off home run, losing two 10-inning games to the Cubs and then getting eliminated with this defeat.

Get ready to pop that pregame champagne, Rockies. Harrison Bader delivers a go-ahead ground single into left as the Cardinals score their third run of the inning off Anthony Swarzak and take a 7-6 lead. If the score holds and the Rockies clinch, it's a big deal to do it today because they won't have to worry about using Jon Gray on Sunday and can now save him with plenty of rest for the wild-card game against the Diamondbacks.

The Brewers have squandered a 6-0 lead as Stephen Piscotty's two-run single off Anthony Swarzak ties the game in the eighth. The Brewers have left 10 runners on base as they need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile, as the Rockies get ready for their game against Clayton Kershaw, you know those clubhouse TVs are tuned into the Brewers-Cardinals game.

Looks like the Brewers are going to put pressure on the Rockies to beat Clayton Kershaw tonight to clinch that second wild-card spot. The Brewers put up a five spot in the third inning against the Cardinals to take a 6-0 lead. Junior Guerra, making his first start since July 29, is pitching for Milwaukee. German Marquez goes later for the Rockies. Will we need to go to game 162 to determine the final playoff? And maybe even a game 163? Remember that the Rockies beat Kershaw a couple years ago -- and he probably won't go beyond five innings as he gets ready for the Division Series opener.

Final wild-card spot nearly sewn up

The Brewers have won two in a row, but the Rockies have won three straight, giving them a stranglehold on the NL's final playoff berth. Milwaukee needs to win its final two games while Colorado loses its final two, which FiveThirtyEight finds very unlikely.

Cardinals out of wild-card race

The Brewers won Thursday vs. the Reds, while the Rockies had the day off. There wasn't much movement for either Colorado or Milwaukee in the wild-card standings, but St. Louis was eliminated after Cubs OF Leonys Martin robbed Paul DeJong of a game-tying homer in the 11th inning.

Real or not? Brewers do what they have to do

The Rockies are still in good shape for the second NL wild card, but the Brewers remain within striking distance. Playing against a freshly eliminated Cardinals team in the final weekend could help Milwaukee.

Brewers beat Reds 4-3, close within 2 games of Colorado

The Brewers closed within two games of Colorado for the National League's second wild card with three games left, rallying to beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-3 Thursday as Brett Phillips hit a go-ahead double in the sixth inning.

Rockies closing in on wild-card berth

The Rockies' playoff chances increased significantly on Wednesday after they defeated the Marlins and the Brewers and Cardinals lost.
