The next step in the boating accident that killed former Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez and two others is the brewing legal battle involving the families of Eduardo Rivero and Emilio Macias against Fernandez's estate. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's investigation concluded Thursday that Fernandez was the operator of the boat, had a blood alcohol level of .147 and "noted presence of cocaine." Fernandez violated multiple boating laws and was speeding at 65.7 miles per hour at the time of the crash. These are significant details if this case eventually goes to trial.
