Covey shines in AFL debut

Dylan Covey allowed just three hits over five scoreless innings in his first outing for the Glendale Desert Dogs of the Arizona Fall League on Thursday. Covey, acquired in last year's Rule 5 draft, went 0-7 with a 7.71 ERA in 18 games (12 starts) with the White Sox this season.

The Hank Aaron Award recognizes the most outstanding offensive performer in each league. Finalists for all 30 teams were revealed Monday.

White Sox outright five

On Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox outrighted C Rob Brantly, RHPs Brad Goldberg and Chris Volstad, LHP David Holmberg and OF Rymer Liriano to Triple-A Charlotte. Goldberg will remain with the organization, while Brantly, Holmberg, Liriano and Volstad elected free agency.
