Pinch-hitter Kyle Farmer doubled sharply down the left-field line with two outs in the ninth to drive in two runs, and the Los Angeles Dodgers came back to edge the Chicago Cubs 4-3 on Tuesday in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.

Rain, power outage postpone Dodgers-Cubs

Monday's series opener between the Cubs and Dodgers was postponed because of rain systems moving through the Chicago area and a partial power outage at Wrigley Field. The game will be made up on Tuesday as part of a doubleheader.

They have postponed the Dodgers-Cubs game after a delay of two hours, 53 minutes because of additional bad weather expected to move in as well as the on-going power outages at Wrigley Field. The clubs will play a split doubleheader on Tuesday, with the first game starting at 1:05 p.m. EST, and the second game starting at the previously scheduled 8:05 p.m. EST.

The next round of rain hasn't hit but the lights have gone out again at Wrigley Field. It's been a topsy-turvy sea of emotions at the ballpark tonight, almost on par with last year's NLCS.

And the lights are back on at Wrigley Field, but the tarp is still down. More rain is expected to hit the ballpark soon.

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

The rain stopped some time ago at Wrigley Field but there still has been no announcement about when the Cubs-Dodgers game might begin. There is a bank of lights out on the right-filed roof and it's also dark all through the stands up the left-field side of the park. But no word on what is going on. And ... they just brought the tarp back and started to cover the infield. The crowd, who has stuck it out for the last three hours, is not happy, and there is a lot of them. Can't blame them.

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

Bad stuff is moving in overhead in Chicago, so the Cubs have already announced that tonight's game against the Dodgers will not start on time. However, they added that every effort will be made to play tonight, so we may be in for a late night.

Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber continues to impress with his arm in the outfield. He threw out his 7th runner this season, tied for most in the NL, when Harrison Bader tried to stretch a single into a double in the seventh inning on Sunday. Teams continue to try and run on him and he's come up big with his arm more often than not.

Jesse Rogers ESPN Staff Writer

Cubs infielder Javy Baez left Sunday's game after getting hit on or near his left elbow by a pitch from Jack Flaherty in the third inning. Baez was down on the ground being attended to by the Cubs training staff before leaving. Addison Russell entered the game in his place.
