Wade Davis just gave up his first earned runs of the season on his 12th pitch to Mac Williamson of the Giants who homered to right field. Davis hasn't pitched in a week and gave up a single before Williamson went deep to right.

Sam Travis on his major-league debut, which included two hits: "I was a little nervous in the first inning, yeah. I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't. after the first inning, I was good to go." Travis is first Red Sox player with two hits in his major-league debut since Will Middlebrooks in 2012.

Wednesday's game vs. the Marlins gave A's right-hander Sonny Gray back-to-back wins for the first time in more than a year. He has made only five starts this season after being sidelined throughout April with a lat strain.

ESPN Stats and Information

The longest home run in the young career of Padres RF Hunter Renfroe, which won Wednesday night's game vs. the Mets, is the fifth of his last six homers measured at 400 feet or more.

Tough second inning for Rich Hill as he scuffled through a 36-pitch inning that included four walks and some words with umpire Rob Drake about the strike zone. He was lucky to survive with just the two runs Kolten Wong drove in. Between his issues with blisters and shaky command when he has been able to pitch, Hill is a long way from the starter who had a 2.12 ERA last season.

ESPN Stats and Information

Despite the Angels loss, Mike Trout stayed hot on Wednesday night. Since his 1st full season in 2012, Trout has 62 games with multiple extra-base hits, most in MLB. The next closest in that span is Miguel Cabrera (58).

A key surprise for the Dodgers has been infielder Chris Taylor, acquired last summer from the Mariners. He began the season in Triple-A, but enters Wednesday's game hitting .326/.437/.570 in 30 games. He even makes his first MLB appearance in the outfield, filling in for Joc Pederson, who has the night off after Tuesday's collision with Yasiel Puig.

No decision on David Price's next step until after he meets with Red Sox decision-makers tomorrow, according to manager John Farrell. Price reported back that he felt fine despite results at Triple-A.

The Rockies improve to 7-2 on this road trip with a chance for the four-game sweep in Philly on Thursday. Trevor Story returned to the lineup with a hit and two walks and Carlos Gonzalez is finally heating up with eight hits in three games against the Phillies. They're 18-7 on the road and they look like they're going to stick around.

Red Sox 9, Rangers 4: Record? The only record that matters to Chris Sale is the Red Sox's win-loss record, and after a seven-run seventh-inning rally Wednesday night, they won their third game in a row for first time since a four-game run April 15-18. Sale's run of consecutive starts with at least 10 strikeouts ended at eight, tying a record he already shared with Pedro Martinez. He fanned six batters, a season-low, and gave up four runs (three earned) in 7.1 innings.

ESPN Stats and Information

The most recent multi-homer game for Rays RF Steven Souza Jr. before Wednesday night was Sept. 8 last season against the Yankees. He had two multi-homer games last year.

ESPN Stats and Information

The lefty-lefty matchup didn't work out Wednesday night for the Giants' Matt Moore against Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo. The same thing happened to the Marlins' Wade LeBlanc more than four years ago.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Chris Sale winds up settling for merely tying his own streak of eight consecutive starts with at least 10 strikeouts. Sale did it in 2015 with the White Sox, too. Pedro Martinez also did it, in 1999 with the Red Sox.

ESPN Stats and Information

The home run hit by Texas 1B Mike Napoli on Wednesday night was his 17th against the Red Sox as a member of the Angels, Indians or Rangers.

Wil Myers ties NYM 5-5 with 2-run drive off the top of the wall in right-center field. He stood at home momentarily to watch; a long single.

Jesse Rogers ESPN Staff Writer

Anthony Rizzo has seen 3 pitches so far from Matt Moore and deposited two of them in the right field bleachers. It's his 14th multi home run game of his career and first this season. It's also the second time in his career he has two home runs off of left-handed pitching in the same game. (ESPN Stats and Info). Rizzo now has 4 home runs in his last 4 games and 5 in his last 8.

ESPN Stats and Information

Chris Sale is the fifth pitcher since 1900 with 100 strikeouts in his first 10 starts. The others? Randy Johnson (113 in 2000, 111 in 2001), Pedro Martinez (108 in 1999 and 2001, 104 in 2000), Curt Schilling (107 in 2002, 106 in 1998) and Roger Clemens (102 in 1998).

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Asked after his last start about his double-digit strikeout streak, Chris Sale said he'd "rather be 8-0 with no punchouts." So, never mind that Sale has five Ks through five innings after getting Rougned Odor waving at a slider. Sale also gave up two runs in the frame, including a solo homer by Mike Napoli, and trails 3-1 against the Rangers.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

One walk, one unearned run, no strikeouts in the fourth inning for Chris Sale, who nevertheless still hasn't allowed a hit. Red Sox and Rangers tied, 1-1, with Sale stuck on four strikeouts in as many innings.

ESPN Stats and Information

The sixth home run of the season for Angels DH Albert Pujols, hit on Wednesday night, pulls him within 12 of Sammy Sosa in eighth place all-time. Pujols leads all active major leaguers in homers.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Nine up, nine down for Chris Sale, who racks up his fourth strikeout with a 96 mph fastball to Robinson Chirinos to end the third inning. Sale looked like he thought he had Joey Gallo struck out a couple of times on sliders that apparently missed.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Chris Sale gets Rougned Odor to swing through a nasty, dirt-diving slider, then elevates a 96-mph heater to get Mike Napoli swinging. Three strikeouts through two innings.
