In the past calendar year, Charlie Blackmon ranks fourth in baseball in batting average (.329), ninth in home runs (38), eighth in RBIs (108) and first in runs (129) and hits (216). He also has 18 stolen bases during that time. Blackmon might not receive the fanfare that Mookie Betts, Kris Bryant and Manny Machado do in fantasy baseball, but he belongs right up there with each of them as a first-round, franchise player.

Dave Dombrowski, again to NESN, said "to pin (recent struggles) on John Farrell are just not fair. I think we're in a position where he's managed well, he's managed divisional champions. I think we're in a position, we have a good club. We just need to get in a better flow of things."

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

In pregame interview with NESN (he didn't talk to print reporters), Dave Dombrowski said he met with John Farrell and several baseball ops staffers "just to kind of go over our club and try to get it to fit together a little bit."
