The Padres recalled 2B Carlos Asuaje from Triple-A El Paso and optioned P Jose Valdez in a corresponding roster move on Tuesday. San Diego acquired Asuaje in the 2015 trade that sent Craig Kimbrel to the Red Sox. Asuaje, 25, was slashing .222/.335/.319 with one home run and 20 RBIs across 39 games in the minors this season.
