Eduardo Rodriguez on what it would be like if he's part of the Red Sox's playoff starting rotation: "That's going to be the best feeling in the world. That's what everybody who's started a game in the playoffs has told me." E-Rod is making a strong case with a 1.78 ERA in his last four starts.

Red Sox 5, Reds 0: Eduardo Rodriguez continued to make his case for a spot in the Red Sox's postseason rotation. Rodriguez scattered three hits in 7 2/3 innings to lift Boston to its fifth consecutive victory and 13th win in the last 16 games. Rodriguez was in complete command. He didn't give up a hit until the fourth inning and didn't allow a runner to reach scoring position until the eighth. Mitch Moreland's three-run homer in the sixth inning was the big blow for the Red Sox, whose magic number to clinch the AL East now stands at 5.

The Brewers win one of the most thrilling games of the year, tying the Cubs on Orlando Arcia's home run in the ninth and then winning 4-3 on Travis Shaw's two-run walk-off home run in the 10th. Both homers came off Cubs closer Wade Davis as the Brewers avoid what would have been a third straight loss to the Cubs in 10 innings. Catching the Cubs is still unlikely, but the win puts pressure on the Rockies in the wild-card race.

Travis Shaw hit a 2 run HR off Wade Davis to beat the Cubs 4-3 in 10 innings in yet another dramatic finish at Miller Park. Davis blew his first save of the season in the ninth inning when Orlando Arcia homered but Joe Maddon left him in the game after the Cubs took the lead in the 10th on a Jon Jay RBI single. Ryan Braun doubled with one out before Shaw homered. The outcome overshadowed a great game by Jay as well as Kyle Hendricks who went 6 innings allowing just a run. Ian Happ was on base 3 times.

Reds held a pregame retirement ceremony for pitcher Bronson Arroyo. Among the gifts: A ‘61' placard from Fenway Park scoreboard, presented to Arroyo by Dustin Pedroia. Arroyo pitched for Red Sox from 2003-05 and appeared in two games in 2004 World Series. He was 148-137 with a 4.28 ERA overall in a 16-year career with the Pirates, Red Sox, Reds and Diamondbacks.

The last time two teams played three extra inning games in a row in the same series was in May, 2015. The Pirates and Cardinals were the teams involved.

Wade Davis gave up a solo HR to Orlando Arcia for his first blown save of the year. Arcia hit an 0-1 fastball down the left field line to lead off the ninth inning ruining Davis' perfect season. He was 32 for 32 until that hit. Davis got the next three batters to keep the game alive for the Cubs.

Kyle Hendricks has been getting better and better since a stint on the DL and Saturday was no different though he wasn't AS efficient with his pitches. Hendricks went 6 innings giving up 8 hits and one walk while allowing just one run. He threw 112 pitches, 75 of them strikes. He's near playoff ready.

Dustin Pedroia is getting treatment on his knee after feeling some increased soreness Friday night. Red Sox will deviate from original plan and give him today off with the hope that he can return Sunday.

Mookie Betts scratched from Red Sox lineup with bruised left foot. He's available to pinch hit but remains sore. Sox hopeful he can start Sunday. Chris Young will take Betts' place in right field.

Puerto Rican players Javy Báez, René Rivera and Víctor Caratini from the Chicago Cubs send a message to the island after being devastated by Hurricane Maria. While Báez and Rivera have had limited contact with their families, Caratini has not heard anything at all from any of his family members, who live in the hard-hit town of Coamo in the center on the island, which has also been affected by over 30 inches of rain.
