Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) was scratched from the Giants' starting lineup Thursday vs. the Cubs. Christian Arroyo, originally set to have the day off after going 0-for-4 Wednesday to drop his average to .196, will play third in Nunez's place.

Phillies 3B Maikel Franco is back in the starting lineup after two days on the bench, returning to his normal cleanup spot. CF Odubel Herrera will be back in the third spot, with RF Michael Saunders batting fifth and SS Freddy Galvis batting eighth.

The Phillies have activated RHP Jeanmar Gomez (elbow) from the 10-day DL and optioned LHP Adam Morgan to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Morgan was recalled Friday and sent back Saturday before being recalled again Tuesday. He pitched three scoreless innings Wednesday against the Rockies, allowing three hits and striking out two.
The Pirates have activated OF Gregory Polanco (hamstring) from the 10-day DL, but he is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Atlanta. Neither is OF Andrew McCutchen, whose batting average (.203) has been creeping dangerously close to the Mendoza line.
With Albert Pujols getting a rest day Thursday, Mike Trout will DH against the Rays, with Cameron Maybin taking over in center and Ben Revere in left field. Danny Espinosa is back in the starting lineup at 2B.
The Rays activated RHP Tommy Hunter from the DL on Thursday and placed RHP Jumbo Diaz (right arm fatigue) on the DL, retroactive to Tuesday. Hunter has missed a month due to a calf strain.
The Braves have designated RHP Josh Collmenter for assignment and recalled RHP Matt Wisler from Triple-A Gwinnett. Collmenter allowed seven runs on six hits, including three homers, in just one inning of work Wednesday night.
SS Tim Beckham (rest) is not in the Rays' starting lineup Thursday vs. the Angels. Daniel Robertson gets the nod at shortstop.
