Rick Pitino's federal lawsuit Adidas' actions have caused grave damage to his "public and private standing and reputation, causing him extreme embarrassment, humiliation, and emotional distress." The lawsuit says it is "about more than just money; it is Coach Pitino's vehicle for proving that he had nothing to do with Adidas' outrageous, wrongful, and illegal conspiracy."

Mark Schlabach ESPN Senior Writer

Rick Pitino sued Adidas America in federal court on Tuesday, one day after he was formally fired as Louisville's basketball coach. In the civil lawsuit, Pitino alleges he suffered damages as a result of Adidas' "outrageous conduct in conspiring to funnel money to the family of a college basketball recruit...all without Coach Pitino's knowledge, participation, or acquiescense."

David Padgett told ESPN there is no update on Brian Bowen's status. "That situation's out of my hands. I wish I knew more."

Notable excerpt from Rick Pitino's lawyers' submission to the board: "To find a failure of diligent supervision, monitoring or oversight, ULAA must have proof that Coach Pitino deviated from a standard. . . . if ULAA terminates Coach Pitino's contract without proof of that deviation, it will be in breach of contract, and will be obligated to pay him the full balance due under his contract."

Jeff Borzello ESPN Staff Writer

ULAA voted to terminate Rick Pitino's contract with "just cause."
