SEC teams to look for in NIT (1:24)

ESPN Stats and Information

Based on our Strength of Record metric, Illinois State is the most deserving team left out of the NCAA tournament. No other team's SOR measures high enough to warrant an at-large bid. Notably absent from the five most deserving teams left out are Syracuse (SOR: 56) and Indiana (SOR: 58).

Kentucky SR F Derek Willis said defending the pick-and-roll more intensely with J.J Frazier and Yante Maten was a big reason the Wildcats held the duo to a combined 13 points today

Kentucky beats Georgia 71-60 in SEC quarterfinals. The ViewFromVegas is the Wildcats did NOT cover after closing as 11.5-point favorites (though bettors who took Kentucky -10 on the opening line got the cover). For those who bet it at Kentucky -11/Georgia +11 took a push.

Kentucky seemed like it was in control of this game from the start and it won handily without freshman star Malik Monk being much of an offensive factor. He had just 2 pts on 1 of 7 shooting in 26 minutes. Isaiah Briscoe De'Aaron Fox both getting 20 points and Edrice Adebayo grabbing 13 certainly helped ease Monk's funk.

With Kentucky's 71-60 win over Georgia, the Wildcats advance to the SEC tournament semifinals tomorrow and have now won nine straight over the Bulldogs. Kentucky played some of its best defense of the season, forcing Georgia to shoot just 33% (19 of 57) from the field, the third-lowest percentage by a Kentucky opponent this season. Kentucky also capitalized with 18 pts off 13 Georgia TOs.

Kentucky's defense was fantastic in the first half. Not only is Georgia shooting just 30 percent (just 1-8 from 3) but the Cats have smothered leading scorer J.J. Frazier (18.6 PPG), limiting him to just 6 points in 18 minutes on 3-8 shooting. Yante Maten is 0-4 from the field with 14 minutes of work

Rachel Marcus ESPN Editor

Neither Kentucky (36.4 percent) or Georgia (30 percent) shot great from the field in the first half of their SEC tourney game, but Kentucky has a 7-point lead at the half due to its ability to make 3-pointers. The Wildcats went 4-of-8 from beyond the arc in the first half compared to just 1-of-8 for Georgia.

Edward Aschoff ESPN Staff Writer

Kentucky and Georgia traded a couple of baskets at the end of the first half but the Wildcats lead 32-25. The Bulldogs shot 30 percent from the floor (9-30) but outscored the Cats 11-7 in the final 6:09 after De'Aaron Fox went out with his second foul. That margin should have been a lot higher for the Dawgs, but they missed too many close baskets. That might come back to haunt them in the second half when Fox and Malik Monk return to the game
