Lindsey Vonn will start 7th in Wednesday's downhill, a more advantageous position than she had in Sunday's Super G when she started first. Vonn's 7th slot is two spots after Italy's Sophia Goggia, considered by many her main competition in the event. Going 7th will allow Vonn to watch the line Goggia and six others take and more importantly give her a target time to beat. Vonn, the 2010 Olympic downhill champion, had the 1st-, 3rd- and 4th-fastest times in downhill training.

Before she dropped in to take her final run in ski halfpipe finals, American Brita Sigourney realized if she landed, she would knock her teammate, Annalisa Drew, off the podium. "I'm still in shock. I didn't know I could do that," Sigourney said after taking bronze. "To compete under that pressure and pull it off, I'm so relieved. We love each other and we both want each other to do well. Having Anna's support and her tell me she loved me and is proud of me takes everything away. There's no rivalry there, just love."
