Fresh backs vs. a tired defense. Tennessee D has been on the field 29 of 47 minutes. Tide backups Tua Tagovailoa and Najee Harris just ripped runs of 18, 13 & 23 yards, the last a TD by Tagovailoa.

Bituli's 97-yard pick-six puts Tennessee on the board (0:47)

Ivan Maisel ESPN Senior Writer

Tennessee scored its 1st TD in 4 weeks, a 97-yard pick six by Daniel Bituli. But that sent overworked Vol defense right back out. Alabama has run 70 plays, Vols 30 (for 74 yards). Tide leads 31-7.

Freshman QB Tua Tagovailoa comes on for Jalen Hurts and promptly throws a pick-six inside the red zone. It was Tennessee's first TD in 12 quarters of play.

Calvin Ridley now has 200 career receptions. He and Amari Cooper are the only two players in Alabama history with 200 or more catches.

Alex Scarborough ESPN Staff Writer

Jarrett Guarantano got hit so hard on that failed Hail Mary attempt that his helmet came off. Not a great way to enter halftime for Tennessee, down big on the road at Alabama.

Alex Scarborough ESPN Staff Writer

Damien Harris is scoring a TD once every 7.8 carries this season. That's efficiency for you.

Alex Scarborough ESPN Staff Writer

Tennessee OL Trey Smith -- the top-rated player in the 2017 class -- took a direct shot to the ankle from QB Jarrett Guarantano's helmet. He looked to be in serious pain and went to the sideline. That's the last thing the Vols' offense needs against Bama's front seven.

Another fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line, another chance for Bo Scarbrough to go over the top for a touchdown.

Alabama's passing game is all out of sorts today. Give Tennessee's defensive backs credit, but Jalen Hurts has not been accurate with the football.

Ivan Maisel ESPN Senior Writer

Alabama opens with a methodical 12-play, 63-yard TD drive in 5:35, the Tide's longest opening drive (by plays and time) this season. Message to Tennessee: this will be a physical slog.

Alex Scarborough ESPN Staff Writer

How's this for a jumbo package: 6-foot-4, 285-pound Quinnen Williams and 6-foot-2, 308-pound Daron Payne as lead blockers for 6-foot-2, 235-pound Bo Scarbrough. The result is Scarbrough over the top for a 1-yard TD on fourth-and-goal.

First I've seen this: Tennessee brought shades to put over its benches. The high is going to be 80 degrees in Tuscaloosa today.

Third Saturday in October always draws a crowd ... even when Alabama is a 5-TD favorite over Tennessee.

Former Tennessee athletic director Doug Dickey used to say that the head football coach at Tennessee would always be measured by how he fares against Alabama, Florida and Georgia. With the Vols headed to No. 1 Alabama on Saturday as a 36.5-point underdog and coach Butch Jones' seat scorching hot, the reality is that Tennessee hasn't measured up for much of the last two decades, spanning four different head coaches. Going back to the start of the 2000 season, Tennessee is just 15-38 against Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Phillip Fulmer had 11 of those wins from 2000-08, Jones three from 2013 to present, Lane Kiffin one in 2009 and Derek Dooley none from 2010-12.
