Houston, Rice show solidarity post-hurricane

Houston and Rice showed solidarity before their rivalry game kicked off on Saturday night in their first game in the city since Hurricane Harvey hit. A moment of silence in memory of victims of Harvey was observed before the game.

UH jerseys to have 'Houston' instead of names

The Houston Cougars will pay tribute to those affected by Hurricane Harvey by replacing the nameplate on their jerseys with a "Houston" patch for Saturday's game against fellow Bayou City school Rice.

Rice back in Harvey-hit Houston after long trip

The Rice football team has been away from Houston for two weeks following a road trip to Australia and an extended stay out of town because of Hurricane Harvey. Players said they will assist the city of Houston recover as soon as they can.

Lockhart-Korris' vehicle was one of several that took in water from Hurricane Harvey while the Owls were on the road for the Sydney Cup

Rice coach David Bailiff, who returned to Houston with his team Friday, said he can't get to his home in Missouri City because of flood waters. Bailiff said he will sleep in his office tonight.

The Rice Owls returned home to Houston on Friday after nearly two weeks away from home. They departed Houston on Aug. 20 for the Sydney Cup game vs. Stanford on Aug. 26. Their return home was delayed because of Hurricane Harvey. They headquartered at TCU the last four days.

Rice staying at TCU while waiting out Harvey

Rice has diverted from its plan to return to Houston and will stay on the TCU campus due to the damaging effects of Tropical Storm Harvey.

The Rice football team, which is attempting to return home to Houston following its Sydney Cup game vs. Stanford, will temporarily relocate to TCU. The effects of Hurricane Harvey has shut down both major Houston airports. The Owls will arrive in Fort Worth at approximately 2 pm ok Monday.
