Alabama flips CB prospect Jobe from Miami

Nick Saban further strengthened his footprint in South Florida by getting highly ranked cornerback Josh Jobe to switch his commitment from Miami to Alabama. Jobe joins a Crimson Tide recruiting class that had been ranked No. 10 prior to his pledge.

ESPN 300 cornerback Josh Jobe announced he is flipping his commitment from Miami to Alabama on Saturday. Jobe, the No. 117 ranked prospect out of Miami, Florida, tweeted that the decision was what is best for him and his future. The flip doesn't come as a surprise as many believed the Tide would eventually land the 6-foot prospect and now gives Alabama 11 ESPN 300 commitments in the 2018 class.

Scout's Take: QB Jarren Williams to Miami

Four-star quarterback Jarren Williams, a dual-threat from Georgia, should be a top competitor to be Miami's starting QB by 2019.

Miami running back Mark Walton formally declared for the NFL draft on Tuesday. Though he has missed the majority of the season with an ankle injury, the news came as expected. Walton leaves ranked No. 8 on the school list in touchdowns scored (28).

Miami's Mark Richt is named Walter Camp Coach of the Year. He joins Jimmy Johnson (1986) as the only Hurricanes coaches to win the award. Richt, in his second season at his alma mater, is the third ACC coach in the past five years to win (Clemson's Dabo Swinney in 2015, Duke's David Cutcliffe in 2013).

Mark Schlabach ESPN Senior Writer

Miami's Mark Richt has been named the Walter Camp 2017 Coach of the Year, as voted on by the 130 FBS head coaches and SIDs. Richt led the Hurricanes to a 10-2 record and their first ACC Coastal Division title.

Miami hosts Wisconsin in Orange Bowl (1:32)

Miami plays Wisconsin in the Capital One Orange Bowl, a de facto home game for the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes' best wins this season have come at Hard Rock Stadium. Expect them to be ready in another primetime atmosphere.

David M. Hale ESPN Staff Writer

With Alabama making the playoff, the Big Ten will head to the Orange Bowl, opening a spot in the Citrus Bowl for the ACC. That's great news for Virginia Tech, which will almost certainly land in an Orlando bowl now, but it also means each ACC team can be slotted up a spot. The big winner may be Florida State, which could avoid a Tier 2 Bowl game.

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

Miami may have had a disappointing finish to its season, but the Hurricanes end up ranked No. 10 and did make their first ACC championship game appearance. Still major progress this year.

The top four finishers in Strength of Record are Oklahoma, Clemson, Georgia and Alabama. 11 of the 12 past Playoff teams have had a top-4 SOR.
