Georgia has hired Cortez Hankton as its new wide receivers coach and brought back Scott Fountain, who served as a special teams analyst last season before leaving recently to become special teams coordinator at Mississippi State. Hankton spent the past three years as Vanderbilt's receivers coach. Coach Kirby Smart said some roles for the staff likely will be shuffled in the coming weeks.

Hearing former Texas A&M receivers coach Aaron Moorehead is a strong candidate to join Vanderbilt's staff in the same capacity. Moorehead worked as a graduate assistant at Stanford while Vandy coach Derek Mason was defensive coordinator there.

If Jeremy Pruitt finalizes a deal with Tennessee, the SEC East coaching roster will consist of Florida's Dan Mullen and six former defensive coordinators. Three of them -- Georgia's Kirby Smart, South Carolina's Will Muschamp and Pruitt -- worked under Alabama's Nick Saban.

Regarding the Arizona State search, many coaches think Kevin Sumlin is the top target, but there hasn't been much of a push for him so far. Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason's name bubbled up this morning, but I'm told it's very likely he stays put despite being a Phoenix native. ASU athletic director Ray Anderson's NFL connections are definitely a factor as the search progresses.
