Kansas State has only 59 yards of offense and trails Kansas at halftime. The dissonance in Manhattan around coach Bill Snyder will only grow if the Wildcats lose in the Sunflower Showdown.

David Beaty says there was no doubt he would finish the season at Kansas after being informed he would not be retained in 2019. "I'm grateful to [athletic director Jeff Long] that it wasn't even a conversation. He believes and knows that's what our team would want. It's served as less of a distraction than these situations typically would be. … They know it's never been about me. It's always been about them and the great University of Kansas."

Adam Rittenberg ESPN Staff Writer

Kansas has fired fourth-year coach David Beaty. He will finish out the season for the Jayhawks, who are 3-6 and visit rival Kansas State this week. First-year athletic director Jeff Long says his search for Beaty's replacement begins immediately. He's seeking a coach "who is committed to breaking the cycle" for Kansas football.

Eaton wide open for easy Iowa State TD (0:23)
