The Redskins selected Auburn corner Joshua Holsey with the 235th pick. Holsey switched from safety. At 5-foot-9, 190 pounds corner is a better fit. He suffered two ACL tears early in his college career but played all last season. He ran the 40 in 4.43 seconds.

It looks like the Cardinals may have found the cornerback they were looking for in this year's draft. Rudy Ford, who Arizona traded into the sixth round to draft, said the Cardinals talked to him about playing cornerback. When Ford converted from a running back to defensive back in 2013, he played cornerback. Over the last three seasons, Ford also played safety and nickel but said he trained as a cornerback this offseason.

New Cardinals defensive back Johnathan Ford goes by "Rudy" which is a nickname given to him by his mother when he was little. It came from the football movie "Rudy" because of Ford's determination and "never give up" attitude.

New Cardinals safety Johnathan Ford is another versatile defensive back, who can play safety, cornerback and nickel. He converted from running back to cornerback in 2013 and then transitioned to safety. Ford will add more depth the Cardinals' secondary room. He also returned eight kicks for 127 yards last season, giving the Cardinals another option to compete at returner.

After trading the 221st and 231st picks to the Oakland Raiders for the 208th pick, the Arizona Cardinals selected Auburn safety Johnathan Ford, who goes by Rudy.

Packers select Montravius Adams in third round

Green Bay drafted its third straight defensive player, using pick No. 93 on the Auburn DT, who is a disruptive force inside and had 11 sacks in 52 college games.

Rob Demovsky ESPN Staff Writer

The Packers have made it three in a row on defense by taking Auburn DT Montravius Adams in the third round (No. 93 overall). He joins cornerback Kevin King (No. 33) and safety Josh Jones (No. 61). It's the first time since 2012 that the Packers have used their first three picks on defensive players since 2012, when the Packers took Nick Perry, Jerel Worthy and Casey Hayward. That year they actually used their first six picks on defensive players.

ESPN Stats and Information

The SEC had 12 players taken in the first round Thursday night -- including nine from the West division alone -- tied for the most by any conference in the common draft era. The SEC has produced the most first-round picks in six of the past seven drafts.
