Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says the four players who were arrested Aug. 19 that are still on the team -- Te'Von Coney, Kevin Stepherson, Dexter Williams, Ashton White -- will be ready to play for the opener at Texas, but the decision on whether they can play rests in the school's hands. Kelly also said he doesn't know which QB will take the first snap Sunday, but that isn't a concern.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh was asked on the Big Ten coaches teleconference if he was ready to declare a starting QB. "The quarterbacks know and the team knows," he said. "But we're not doing that for public consumption." Wilton Speight and John O'Korn are front runners for the job, with Shane Morris also in the competition. Michigan opens the season Saturday against Hawaii.

The last few days, Texas A&M transfer Kyler Murray has been playing the role of Houston QB Greg Ward Jr. for the Oklahoma scout team. "Kyler's done a great job," OU coach Bob Stoops said. "Running around, making plays, (we've been) getting to see that special explosiveness he has." Murray was the nation's No. 1 dual-threat QB recruit for the class of 2015.
